Harper is a country girl. Born and bred in Chestnut Ridge, she was content to live out her life on the ranch like she always intended. Taking care of the mini sheep, riding her horse Champ through the countryside, milking the cows, farming the earth--that's what Harper was raised to do. Or it's what she would be doing, if she hadn't somehow ended up on a bachelor challenge. Turns out drinking too much wine in the comfort of your own ranch isn't as fun of a Friday night if you have access to an old, beat-down computer that was conveniently left open to Raine's casting call. (Later, Harper will chase her two younger sisters around the house insisting that they did this on purpose.) By the time Harper had sobered up and attempted to back out of her entry that had somehow, of all the entrants, been selected-it was too late. She'd go on the show whether she'd like it or not. The only things keeping Harper from not just asking Raine to leave on the first day? Harper's sisters who are thrilled to see Harper doing something that's not just taking care of her horse, and Harper's interest in beautiful Raine. Just another challenge to navigate.

đź–¤ Charlotte Black đź–¤ for @softietrait's Romancing Raine!
Charlotte’s father’s stories were the best. Growing up, she’d listen with wide eyes and a heart full of wonder at her father’s tall tales, each more fantastical than the last. Charlotte was a smart girl, and her grandmother always warned her not to believe her father’s “nonsense”, but still—Charlotte trusted her father. Even if no one else in their small town did.
A descendant of death, her father had called her. Not with disdain, but with awe. The grim reaper was his father, he’d told her, and Charlotte shared his blood. That made her special—connected not only to this world, but to the next. Everyone told her it was ridiculous—a silly superstition. Her father was mad, they said. Even her grandmother parroted their lies.Â
But the truth was revealed when she discovered her grandmother’s letters. Her skeptical, practical grandmother, who didn’t have a drop of spirituality or superstition in her blood, wrote about her affair—with the grim reaper.
Death himself was Charlotte’s grandfather.
But a few letters weren’t going to prove her father’s sanity. Charlotte knew she had to go deeper: she had to dedicate herself to revealing the occult to the world. With a pen in one hand and her trusty camcorder in the other, Charlotte started traveling, writing up her experiences with the occult everywhere she went. But her true mission was to find death… and bring him home.
But that’s not what her father ever wanted for her. He begged her to settle down, find someone who would treat her right, and let go of the past. He didn’t need to be defended, he just needed Charlotte to be happy.Â
A notification that she’d been accepted into a bachelorette challenge was the last thing Charlotte expected to receive one fateful Thursday afternoon. Immediately, she knew it was her father’s doing—his way of trying to get her to find “happiness.” She was all set to call and cancel—but something about Raine’s profile gave her pause. Enraptured, she kept reading until her eyes landed on the line:Â
đ–ą likes: knitting, gardening, reading, pink & yellow, the occult
“The occult” huh? Well, at least they had something in common.
Maybe her father was right. Maybe she had been neglecting her life in favor of what comes after. Maybe she should try to find happiness—to carve out a piece of this world that’s hers.
Not her father’s. Not death’s. Just hers.
And maybe, just maybe, Raine was the right person to do it with.
More info under the cut!

FUN FACTS
Grew up in Copperdale. Despite everything, she had a good childhood—her father is really an amazing dad.
Has a pet crow named Ciar, who she met & adopted on her search to find Grim. She’s also always wanted a cat.
Her dad’s nickname for her is “Lottie”, and only he can call her that. Sometimes called Charlie, but only by her closest friends.
Her mother abandoned her & Charlotte’s father when Charlotte was a toddler, largely because she wasn’t able to handle the town’s vitriol.
Charlotte’s grandmother was intent on keeping her affair with the grim reaper a secret forever. Initially, she opened up to a few people about it—even telling her son the truth of his parentage—but when they started treating her like she was crazy, she decided to pretend none of it was real.

Vibri is the first of her mermaid clan to leave the freezing waters of the Windenburg Bluffs in search of something "greater." While the scandal should have had her excommunicated, her mother and father, the two clan leaders, simply kissed her forehead and promised to welcome her should she ever wish to return.
Since landing on the shores of Sulani, however, returning home has been the furthest thing from Vibri's mind. She loves the never ending warmth of the sun, the hot and humid heat in the air, even the risk of volcano eruptions shaking the ocean floor. She has never felt so free in one place before. As a show of gratitude, she uses her weather abilities to bring rain and shine whenever the villagers need it. Whlie she refuses to help lure fish into their traps, she's more than happy to bring fresh sea produce from the depths to the surface.
All in all, she's having a wonderful time. What could make it more wonderful?
