Patrick Swayze in the musical comedy roller disco extravaganza Skatetown U.S.A., 1979. Having roller-skated competitively in his teens as well as being a trained and highly talented dancer, Patrick did all of his own skating and stunts in the movie, bringing an intensity and skill level that not only made him the stand out of the cast, but also far out-classed the quality of the entire production. Filmed mostly at the Hollywood Palladium theater on Sunset Blvd., the movie was billed as "The Rock and Roller Disco Movie of the Year" when it was released. A box office bomb and eventual camp classic, this was Swayze's first film role, later jokingly referred to as "Dirty Skating" following the massive box office success of his later movie Dirty Dancing in 1987.
