for that edit, i used 3 different fonts in total: capappa, al nevrada, and antro vectra

i either made the fonts completely white in font colour (i.e. the first gif, the words ‘are you’ and ‘like me?’) or i used a gradient or colour overlay to change specific ones (i.e. colour overlay: the first gif, the words ‘insane’ and ‘pain’ | gradient overlay: the second gif)

for the gradient/colour overlay, the steps are the pretty much the same, as shown below:

1) make your gif as per usual, and edit/colour it as to your liking (note: i personally like to make all my gifs first before i even start on any typography)

2) make layers for each & every different font or ‘colour/gradient overlay’ choice (in my case, the words ‘are you       like me?’ are done in the same font & overlay so it’s one layer while the word ‘insane’ is it’s own layer because that’s what i want to change without changing the other words)

3) change the font colour to white for all the fonts (i.e. for the first gif, the words ‘are you       like me?’ and the word ‘insane’)

4) change the font’s setting from ‘normal’ to ‘difference’ (found on right side of ps)

this makes all the letters/words in the layer turn to the opposite/opposing colours against the gif (i.e. the word ‘insane’ now is no longer white in colour & is instead the opposite colours of the gif - green overtop the magenta, yellow overtop the blue)

5) double click directly on the font layer you want to add a colour/gradient overlay to (in my case, i double clicked on the ‘insane’ layer)

6) that will bring up a new box titled ‘layer style’, which is where the colour/gradient overlays come into play (as you can see, ‘colour overlay’ tab was used in the font of the first gif but the tab below titled ‘gradient overlay’ was used on the font in the 2nd gif of my gifset)

7) click on the ‘colour overlay’ tab (or ‘gradient overlay’ tab, whichever one you want to use)

8) choose whatever font colour you want (in my case, the word ‘insane’ was made into a deep blue - i pick a colour from the gif itself so it matches the gif) (for gradient overlay, there a few more steps involved where you pick more than one colour to make the ‘gradient’ & change the 'style’ to whichever one you want the gradient to be on on your font)

9) play around with blend mode to see which works the best against your gif (i like to play around with all to see which one i like the most but my go to modes are: darken, multiply, colour burn, linear burn, darker colour, colour, or sometimes hard mix or vivid light - but, again, it depends what looks good against your edit or what kind of blend you want on your font, each gif is different so never assume it’s going to be the same on each one) (in my case for the first gif, i used ‘colour burn’ on the word ‘insane’ but i used ‘hard mix’ on the word ‘pain’ because those two blends matched the gifs the best)

10) optional: i like to add some type of shadow (either the ‘drop shadow’ or ‘inner shadow’ tabs) so it really makes the font stand out against the gif (in my case, i used ‘drop shadow’ in this entire gifset but i’ve used ‘inner shadow’ before (this edit - in the first edit of this set, the words ‘pirate hunter’ have an inner shadow displayed on them)

11) you repeat steps 2-9 (plus 10 if you want) to all the layers you want to add some colour on and then you’re done!
