Read! From David Goggins: Question of the day "how can a team form a bond like Special Ops guys have?" You can form a bond in many ways. A man and woman might do it by talking and trying to get to know one another. A family might bond over dinner. A single person might bond with an animal after work. For Special Ops guys, the bond is formed through deep suffering together. You look around at the beginning of training and you might see 200-250 guys. All in the best shape of their lives. Training in Special Ops usually starts off easy, because they are trying to teach us. In the teaching phase, morale is high. Once that phase is over and the instructors expect us to perform, guys start going away fast. So that big bond of 200 plus is now getting smaller by the minute. Once the crucible of training starts, you really start to form that bond. For SEALs it's hell week. When that f#@$+?!* sun goes down and water temperature and outside temperature drop. You can look around and see the men that are truly willing to suffer with you. It's in that suffering when all you want to do is get warm and quit. It's those normal men who choose not to be normal anymore with whom you bond. You may not like them and they may not like you but through suffering and overcoming obstacles together you are forever bonded. In suffering you see people willing to lose everything to find themselves. I had a chance to see men at their all time low and overcome. The best thing about it is it was usually at 2am and no one could hear them scream! They had to find more alone and they did. A bond is built when your team gets their ass kicked. It's those very few people who decide to show up the next morning still asking for more, saying "you can't hurt me!!!" Those few that show up the next day will be bonded and forged together forever. Never be afraid to suffer, it's just a tool that some people aren't willing to use. It's that very tool that strengthens weak people. I know all too well. #RogerThatMentality #BeyondMotivated
Pardon the language but... @davidgoggins - The question is "what makes a person hard?" Just my opinion but I believe you can ask this question to 10 different people and get 10 different answers. I don't believe jumping in cold water makes you hard. I don't believe running long distances make you hard either. I don't even believe being a Navy Seal makes you a hard person. I think a hard person does hard things while no one is watching. It's that person who doesn't want to do something but does it anyway. Like if you are going on a 10 mile run and cut it short just because you don't really feel like running. Are you the person that doesn't care you cut it short or are you the person that can't stop thinking of your mental breakdown and gets up and runs 12 miles to make up for cutting your 10 mile run short? It's easy to be hard when people are cheering you on and supporting you all the way to the finish line. I believe hard people just think differently. It comes down to how well you perform when life is kicking your ass, do you smile or cry? I don't believe you are born tough. Toughness can be trained. Learn to accept discomfort both physically and mentally!! Don't confuse being strong with being tough! Some guys get big because they are hiding that they aren't tough. I knew all about that. Weak people hide behind a lot of shit. Strip yourself down to nothing. Expose the weakness in your mind and life. Start doing shit you don't want to do. Start to develop your will not your hardness. Confront your weak thoughts and don't allow them to take your true potential away. At the end of the day, sometimes you just have to say fuck it! #RogerThatMentality #BeyondMotivated - #regrann
