But now that he’s here, it seems the best police work they can have him doing is investigating murders the old fashioned way. At least the prosecutors seemed to have a hand in the investigations, which Date thought was a little odd, but they did a good job. He’d gotten to know the Chief Prosecutor (who was a little intense...not just about his job or marriage, but in general), and he was slowly becoming acquainted with the prosecutor assigned to this case.

Date was crouching by the place where the body had been (now marked with a white outline), and was trying to ignore the odd scent that seemed to permeate the crime scene. It wasn’t blood--Date would know that anywhere. It was something...oddly floral. 

The thought leaves his mind as he hears footsteps, and he looks up to see the prosecutor entering the room.

“Prosecutor...Gavin, right? I’m Kaname Date, the lead detective on this case.”

Or so he’s been told. 

“This is the victim’s apartment. He was stabbed to death here, in the bedroom. It’s looking like a lover’s quarrel of some sort... They arrested the s.o....”

He gets distracted again, shaking his head.

“Sorry, do you smell something weird in here?”

The Halloween party would be a perfect opportunity for Dahlia to meet new people and potentially know some new allies, maybe, if she was lucky enough. She would be careful like usual, but since she was dressed as a comic book villain, there was no need to put up her usual “sweet and innocent” facade. She could be a little more herself and she was glad for that. She wouldn’t be showing up her evil tendencies of course, but at least she could be more sincere.

She thought it would be a great way to approach people by talking about their costumes. She’d seen a lot of interesting costumes so far, but this guy’s white coat was quite unusual, so she decided to approach him and ask.

“Awwww! This baby dragon is soooooooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!” Marta couldn’t help but gush over the baby, cooing as she scratched under his chin. The little baby dragon just chirped happily, clearly at home with the party.

It’s been a relatively normal day, for a change. Things have been slowly returning to normal--as much as they can be, given the nature of this place--since he escaped a certain, labyrinth furniture store. Apparently, it was a good place to hold out for a few months (though he only remembers a day or two). 

But he did not escape empty-handed, oh no. Simon trudges into the Prosecutor’s office and without even properly greeting Klavier, places a box upon his desk with an impressive thud. “Behold. I have brought you the most useful thing you had not--until this moment--known you needed.” Is he messing with you, Klavier? Who knows. Simon looks entirely serious about this.

You are a disgusting little man

It might be a little concerning for any passers by who happen to see how many lanterns Jude is setting up to send out into the bay. One for Miss Milla, one for Cline, one for Agria, one for Presa... The list continues, and with each friend, foe, or ally Jude remembers that’s passed away, he lights another lantern to set off into the night. He’s developing his own fleet at this point. 

Hearing someone approach behind him, Jude turns around with an awkward smile. 

“Oh, hello Mr. Klavier. Did you come to send out a lantern too? I...might have a spare one.” 

“Have you tried anything at this table?” Miriam grins from her seat at a table, gently prodding at a piece of roasted chicken with a serving fork. The food is all good, but Miriam’s enjoying the opportunity to relax and try different things. That, and the new faces are pretty nice.
