MOON 80, 2ND DAY
ROCKCLAN CAMP, SUNRISE
The camp was quiet, wreathed in early-morning fog. Distantly, the sun began to peek above the horizon line, sending bright rays across the territory that sprawled below RockClanâs camp.
Whisperfur sat atop a rock ledge at the bottom of the camp, watching the sunrise. The chill of the rock was seeping upwards through her paws and into her bones, and despite her thick fur she was beginning to catch a chill. She had come out here so early to have some time to herself, to think, but the warmth of her new nest in the nursery was calling her back.

MOON 79, 15TH DAY
ROCKCLAN CAMP, SUNDOWN
âWe really shouldnât all be outside like this.â
âEspecially after dark.â
âWhat was that noise?â
âWhat noise?â
âAlright, everyone!â a sandy brown tabby she-cat trilled, weaving through the crowd of her assembled Clanmates. âWeâre almost ready to start. Whereâs Whisperfur?â
âIn her den,â an elderly silver and black tom muttered, his gold eyes gleaming in the shadows. He and the other elders gathered beneath a jutting outcrop of rock. âWhere we all should be.â
THE GREAT FEAR | Volereader
Clans of the Waste Masterpost is HERE!
VOLEREADER (Lorekeeper)
She is the second-ever Lorekeeper of RockClan. She was born to Chervilfeather and Burrpelt, but raised by Chervilfeather after Burrpelt died to an infected wound when Volekit was 4 moons old. She was initially apprenticed to her father, Chervilfeather, as a Fighter, but when the Clan became in need of a Lorekeeper apprentice, she was selected by Milkweedmist. She was a pretty shoddy Fighter, so she was glad for the change. Five moons into her training as Lorekeeper, her mentor Milkweedmist was killed by a Creature, so for the final moons of her training, the MarshClan Lorekeeper came to tutor her. She was given her full name, Volereader, two moons after that. There was doubt within the Clan if she was ready to be the full Lorekeeper due to Milkweedmist dying, and she works every day to prove herself to her Clan. She came up with several types of ceremonies to celebrate pivotal moments in Clan life, in an attempt to give RockClan something to celebrate and focus on, other than the terrible Creatures that are hunting them. Volereader is responsible and a good hunter, and a great storyteller, which is part of the reason she was selected to become the Lorekeeper. Milkweedmist influenced her to be adaptable and to diffuse situations. Her father influenced her to be more likely to think outside of the box and break rules that donât suit her. When given her full name, she was honored for her loyalty and commitment to her Clan despite the challenges thrown her way.
BELONGINGS: She already has a hard time keeping track of all the Lore Scrolls, so anything else she did have is now lost.
QUIRKS: She likes drawing (cave-painting style) important events that she records during her work, and she canât wink without looking strained.
RELATIONSHIPS: Daughter of Chervilfeather (Fighter, retired, living) and Burrpelt (Trapper, deceased). Half-sibling to Rainpaw (Starwalker apprentice).

THE GREAT FEAR | Chervilfeather
Clans of the Waste Masterpost is HERE!
CHERVILFEATHER (Fighter, retired)
A founding member of RockClan, Chervilfeather has lived through every major historical event. He likes to tell stories, but many Queens forbid their kits from listening to them, as he goes a bit overboard on the descriptions of violence. He is bloodthirsty and has unnatural senses- both physically and emotionally. He is able to tell what other cats are thinking or feeling, and has a knack for understanding and analyzing behavior. It made him a very successful strategist during the Wartime. As he has gotten on in age, he has taken more of a backseat in Clan life, preferring to keep to himself and his small social circle. Despite that, he still has a great understanding of everything that is going on in the Clan. He never took a permanent mate, but fathered Volekit/Volereader with Burrpelt, and then Rainkit/paw with a passing rogue she-cat. He is very proud of both of his kits for becoming notable positions within the Clan and frequently offers them advice. He was one of the cats who helped develop the new government doctrine for RockClan and MarshClan, and was honored to be a Councilmember for a few seasons. He retired to spend more time with Rainpaw and Volereader.
BELONGINGS: Several prize pelts and keepsakes from his glory days, including the pelts of a white-tailed deer, badger, and a raccoon (he solo-ed it); and the skull of an adder whose bite he survived.
QUIRKS: His eyes donât close fully when heâs in deep sleep, and he loves to cloud-gaze.
RELATIONSHIPS: Father of Volereader (Lorekeeper, living) and Rainpaw (Starwalker apprentice, living). Mate to Burrpelt (Trapper, deceased) and an unknown rogue she-cat.
THE GREAT FEAR | Peakwind
Clans of the Waste Masterpost is HERE!
PEAKWIND (Starwalker, former Healer) REFERENCE
Peakkit and his siblings Ivorykit, Bitterkit, and Slumberkit joined the Clan after being abandoned by their loner mother, Fruit, in the early days of RockClan. Peakkit is soon noticed to have a deformed right hind leg so is slated for work as a Healer. He is mentored by Coldhollow and excels at the job. He has always been ambitious and eager to prove himself despite his deformity, a trait born out of being one of four kits in his litter. Coldhollow taught him the importance of staying out of trivial social matters as a Healer, and how to be more adaptable. He had a natural omen sight that Coldhollow refined, a big reason he was later named the first Starwalker. He has always been remarkably strong because of how he must compensate, muscularly, for his deformed leg. He was closest with Slumberseed and Bitterspeckle, not so much with Ivorydaze, but is sad to be the last alive in his litter. He tries his hardest to be a good father after Whisperfur dies, but for the first couple of moons, he struggles looking at his kits without remembering the terrible way that their mother died. As the kits grow up, they become closer with Peakwind.
BELONGINGS: sap-dried rose petals that belonged to Slumberseed, which he wears on a cord around his neck; a scrap of white fabric that belonged to Bitterspeckle; a shiny piece of quartz he found the night he became a full Healer.
QUIRKS: he micro-doses catmint. He acts much more stoic and harsh in front of other Clans, or outsiders, to compensate for any judgement about his deformed leg.
RELATIONSHIPS: Sibling to Slumberseed (Digger, deceased), Bitterspeckle (Digger, deceased), and Ivorydaze (Digger, deceased). Son of Fruit (loner, deceased) and an unknown tom. Mate to Whisperfur (Fighter, deceased as of moon 81).
THE GREAT FEAR | Whisperfur
Clans of the Waste Masterpost is HERE!
WHISPERFUR (Fighter)
In the early days of RockClan, a loner named Coal and his two kits Whisper and Rain joined when the kits were 3 moons old. Coal becomes Coaldapple and trains as a Trapper. Whisperpaw was apprenticed to Frostchaser as a Warrior. Whisperfur was always extremely loyal to RockClan for taking her family in. Frostchaser influenced her to be positive, question and break rules that donât suit her, and have a colder attitude towards others. Whisperfur grew up with Peakwind and though they did not become mates until later in life, due to Peakwindâs occupation as a Healer, Whisperfur had no other love interests or mates. She raised an abandoned kit, Blotchkit (later Blotchfur), alone. Whisperfur was not a soft, doting mother, but more candid and strict, to prepare her kits for life in a harsh world. She kept her relationship with Peakwind very private and the mating ceremony was very uncomfortable for her, but Peakwind always understood her and knew that she cared very deeply for him, and just showed it in other ways. She was thrilled to finally have Peakwind's kits, even if she was older than most other first-time queens. She only got to enjoy motherhood for a moon: Whisperfurâs last act was to fight off a Creature and protect her kits. Her deep sense of loyalty to the Clan, and her positive outlook and aptitude for rule-breaking, is why she refused to enter StarClan after dying and remained as a ghost until the Creature problem could be solved, despite the state of her body/spirit.
BELONGINGS: A prized fox pelt from her Warrior assessment, a dried sprig of holly berries, a squirrel doll used to teach Blotchkit how to hunt that she was going to use with her own litter.
QUIRKS: Sheâs introverted but likes hanging out with the Elders and listening to them tell the kits stories.
RELATIONSHIPS: Child of Coaldapple (Elder, living) and an unknown she-cat. Sibling to Rainhawk (Councilmember, living). Mate to Peakwind (Starwalker, living).
(See Allegiances).
