I've been reading @charamelwrites story called "heal me" and its a nightmares gang x reader, and ive been simping after their interpretation of Nightmare so here's some imagines about him!
When Nightmare first starts falling for you, the first thing that happens is that his tendrils reach for you without his direction. He pulls them back when he notices, but you're more likely to get Grabbied before he notices since they don't often reach for people without him actively wanting it
You can notice that he acquiesces to your wants far more often. And its often without him making a show of it like someone in the castle would (cough killer cough). You'd find the full series of the first book you've been reading, and they're often in these beautifully bound tomes that actually fit the series and whats the story. For example, the Percy Jackson series would be bound in leather that matches the colours of the original first print version, so the lightning thief would be bound in that dark sea blue green, sea of monsters would be that dark orange, etc, with stamping on the front that would depict a lightning bolt in someone's hand, with three other handsreaching for it, that sort of thing
Nightmare binds those books himself, and he creates the designs for them. Hes never quite kicked the habit of reading late at night when everyone else in the castle (or village) were asleep. Its most peaceful then...
If you ever have an actual nightmare, Night is there and hes disbanded the awful dream. If it was one that happened while he was distracted and he couldnt shoo it away from your mind before you were aware of the turn it was taking, he will appear in your dream and soothe you before letting you fall into a dreamless slumber
If/when you run into trouble, hes the first to find you and return you to the castle. If the gang isn't right there when he makes the portal, they're getting left behind
If this is at a time when dream and nightmare are not actively in the middle of a war, you'll find that dream is the best person to gossip with about nightmare. He has the funniest stories from when they were kids!
When Nightmare finally makes things truly official with you, youll be treated better than a queen. Also be prepared to be called his queen to the others, cause thats part of who you are now. And that is who you are to the rest of the multiverse
Be prepared to be wined and dined like you wouldnt believe, and he will absolutely take you dancing beneath the night sky in an outfit fit for a medieval monarch from your dreams. He'd even dress up with you, dressed like a king that artfully matches and yet contrasts your own clothes, and all it does is make you shine brighter than the sun
He would also teach you how to take care of the many plants that thrive in his eternally dark realm.
These next one's are more for me and anyone else that sews or does any type of needlework as a hobby
He would wear anything you make for him. Anything. And he'd wear it with pride! Or if you make him something cute to put on his shelves in his office, even if its very much the opposite of the vibe of his office (like a cute little duck plushie) he'd put it in the most pride of place spot he could, right next to his favourite books that are first edition and signed by the author
If you make him a scarf that matches his favourite villain like outfit (think of that one green art of nightmare thats in the trench coat, I'll reblog it soon) he will wear it with pride when he goes out to menace the residents of a random au that they're trying to turn negative
And if you go to nightmare to ask if you can sleep by him, he will go all soft and let you sleep either in his bed while he reads, or on the couch of his office if its for an afternoon nap. He doesnt need to sleep often, but if you curl up next to him on the bed, hes much more likely to fall asleep with you after a bit. Its probably a good idea for you to anyways, hes been needing to sleep more often.
Youll also wake up being cradled in his arms and tendrils, with your face resting on his chest. His sleeping face looks more relaxed than you've ever seen him
