IS IT CONSIDERED alive if every breath you take sends incredible pain coursing through your body? when your limbs are beyond aching, muscles strained, bones broken. a loss of blood so severe she felt as if there had been more pooled around her than in her pale form. ( what kind of picture did she paint when they found her like that? )

even she can hardly believe it -- that her eyes had opened after such a catastrophic battle. no matter the passage of time it took to recover, she had survived. ‘ & yet, so many were lost ... ‘ she keeps her gaze on the ceiling above while taking frail breaths, immobile as she lay on white sheets. his presence should be a comfort, but it merely reminds her of her inability to protect. whilst she lays here, recovering .... there had been dozens of demon slayers littered across that forest floor.

.. she could still remember it ;; the horror ‘pon stumbling on such a sight. ‘ if only I had been there sooner, if only -- ‘ with a shuddered breath, her lips part to form a wispy laugh. an all-consuming guilt swallows her whole, enshrouding her shriveled heart.
