#robot pirates

second i think you should plague the world with more rayman. This in an invitation to talk about the pirates :)

GIO I HOLD YOU... Oh don't worry I'm the pirates' spokesperson if I ever shut up about them or villains consider me gone. No really can I say something like. How the pirates are memorable villains/sbires. Usually you don't think much of mobs because they pretty much look like the same thing and it's a matter of a few seconds before you punch/shoot them off the screen. But the pirates in Rayman 2? Not only you take a little while the design put into them still impresses me to this day.

That's the moment you know Rayman was brave as heck because those metal hunks are super tall and if I were Ray I'd be super scared-

And these guys. Terrifying when you're a kid first playing the game. Until you figure out they'll go wherever you lure them. But imagine the terror those would be if they were more inteligent. Imagine the actual threat like the other ones.

OK maybe I'm giving them too much credit but you know what I mean, right?

And these guys. Funky and funny looking fellas until you learn the hard way that you need to prudently walk your way towards them. Genius.

And then you have Ninjaws. The actual threat. The anger. I mean look he has a golden hook he means business. The only way to defeat him in Rayman Revolution is to make him step into lava if this isn't horrifying I don't know what is.

And then you have him. Too pure for this world. Handles way too much shit for his sake. (If you forget the horrifying cancelled quotes from Rayman Revolution that somehow made him incredibly feral, but you know what, I would have loved to see that in game. Just as a treat.)

INKTOBER 2021 DAY 16: COMPASS

A discussion was held for us all to choose a character. Our theme of Rummy Robots was created to make it easier on animations. The solution we came up with was to situate the robots on balls in the same vein as Rosie the Robot from The Jetsons. We first had the initial concept thumbnails from our artists: 

And then the final one was chosen:

THE CAPTAIN: YAY!!!! We are going to SAIL THE EIGHT SEAS AND FIND THE SECRET TREASURE BURIED IN THE DESERTED ISLAND BENEATH THE LARGE RED X!!!!! PIRATES!!!!

THE LIEUTENANT: ..captain?

THE CAPTAIN: Yes, lieutenant? Have you spotted the island?
