A few years ago Rob Taresk was a Plymouth College of Art student just like the rest of us. We were able to have him back to talk with us about his University experience and what he's got lined up now.  Rob held all our attention right from the start and was very personable. He said things that we could relate to such as wanting to leave the course at one point as it felt like all too much. Of course he's glad he's stayed but it gave us all a realization that life in the fashion industry is not easy and you have to work very hard through the rough patches to reach the fields of success. 

His first collection was called - 'Dunes of Desire' which got him interested in Haute Couture. I couldn't believe it when some of his work was shown to us on the screen and it was the very same dress that had been on display when I came for my interview and had really inspired me. Small world. 

His first fashion job was an internship with fashion designer, Giles Deacon. Since this, he has teamed up with our very own lecturer and knitwear designer Becky Dodman. He also had a spell at Alexander McQueen as a studio assistant in pattern cutting. 

Throughout the whole talk he was very down to earth even sharing the less glamorous parts to jobs he's had, such as sorting out what felt like thousands of pattern blocks back into their rightful places.

His latest project involves using the 'oribotic's' origami fabric folding technique. This creates permanent lines in the fabric allowing it to be manipulated.
