“The Army Corps lacks statutory authority to simply stop the [Environmental Impact Assessment] and issue the easement,” the tribe said. “The Corps must review the Presidential Memorandum, notify Congress, and actually grant the easement,” Standing Rock officials added. “We have not received formal notice that the EIS has been suspended or withdrawn.”

Denver on January 10, 1907: Mayor Robert Speer inspects the building foundation at the Carnegie library (soon to be the Denver Public Library) being built in what is now Civic Center. Civic Center was one of Speer's biggest City Beautiful-era dreams, along with the Denver Mountain Parks, various park-like boulevards (Monaco, Downing, and, of course Speer), and the walling of Cherry Creek. The houses in the background were leveled to create the Civic Center, which officially opened in 1919, one year after Speer's death from pneumonia. The library is still there -- now named the McNichols Building after former mayor William McNichols -- it reopened to the public in 2012 after years of neglect.
"The idea was that a bunch of us would get together and read through GEB in great detail over the course of a semester, stopping to actually work through the math, make computer programs that expand on the ones in the book, and (my favorite part) find and listen to the referenced Bach music."
Apparently sometimes there are even some great ideas coming out of Reddit which aren't a 4c ripoff. Reading GEB is certainly a great one and I hope to keep pace with the readinglist. Just in case: MIT Open Courseware has also a range of video lectures dedicated to the book.
