So seeing Fabien Mense's work reminded me of this guy. Rob Laro! His style is another heavily stylized one that is very unique and appealing to me. This guy SKETCHES like you would not believe. just pages and pages of figures and concepts and you can see how he moves forms around and just comes up with the best ways to express movement and weight and form. I want to be a sketch-machine like this guy. He does NOT STOP. I often find myself...uninspired. I might email him one of these days to just ask, how do you keep coming up with ideas? Don't you ever run out? lol beause it really seems like he doesn't! This dude's visual library is Congress-level, peeps.
Rob is an artist based in the UK. He's a 3D artist, programmer, game developer, and concept artist. He's developing a game right now called ODANATA, with fellow artist Annaka Tran, and it looks really interesting and SUPER different from anything I've seen. Check it out and check out his blog! Crazy diverse and such a yummy style. It's very....it's just great to look at, idk why but the forms are so thick and substantial, his characters really take up space, they seem to own their environments and have a life-like quality to them, even though they're so heavily stylized and exaggerated in areas. He's very skilled at expressing personality through body language.
