Opened in 1954 as a Premium Tex service station, these buildings housed retail space under the hat and restrooms in the boots... Every time I pass this house I wonder who lived in it. The house sits just across the road from the old school house and has historical potential. My mother always told me stories about our ancestors getting their start in Carson before moving to the south side of the canyon. TWISTEE TREAT ON ROUTE 66 - A classic Twistee Treat ice cream shop located at the Pink Elephant Antique Mall on Old Route 66 in Livingston, Illinois. Originally built by the now-defunct Twistee Treat Company in the late 80s, less than 50 of these unique fiberglass structures remain (most being in Florida). Many of the survivors still serve ice cream, but all are now - pretty much - roadside architectural attractions that harken back to simpler times, recall happy childhood memories, and add a unique character to places travelled.
