Y’all, Eric and I have been married for 20 years. It feels like that time really flew by, and was surrounded by rainbows and butterflies. Other days it feels like a long, hot, dark desert that will end on Dateline.

Eric and I have always tried to be very intentional about date night and making time for each other. As I am sure you can imagine, it’s becoming harder and harder for Eric and I to carve out real time for simple conversations, let alone real date nights. So I came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea for Eric and I to stay engaged with each other. Book Club!

To clarify, the only members of this club are Eric and I. The idea was simple. We would both read the same book and just have quick chats or texts when something hit us in an interesting way. Eric was not as excited about this idea as I was, but to be fair I think all my ideas are Nobel Prize winners. I seem to be unable to remember that most of my brilliance comes back to bite me in the behind.

I suggested that Eric pick the first book, and he took too long, so I picked one. I chose “The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery.” The basis of the book is learning about your personality type and how you relate to the world around you.
