For the past nine years, I’ve walked past this antique store in Castro, admiring a single object in the window: This old man, sitting and contemplating. It took five years before the store owner happened to be standing outside, and I inquired about the porcelain figure. He talked about it briefly, before showing me a missing piece of the statue. He pointed to another statue that was in its original condition; but I didn’t care. David and I frequented a café two doors down, so I’d stop by a lot and talked to this man. On Christmas Day, to my surprise, nine years after my first encounter with him, the old man arrived at our home and into my arms. I guess @dbucky has waited nine years to present this old man to a newly minted old man! I’m still shocked... #rmkwinter2017 #rmknoel2017 (at San Francisco, California)
