okay, commentary time.

this was kind of a difficult piece rip mostly because I was trying to turn junko into a cosmic body. so I gotta make it look nebulous, with loads of stars everywhere, and also try to make junko recognizable while also staying NOT recognizable, for she is now a cosmic body.

I don't know for sure if I've succeeded. I was told it looked fine, someone else didn't recognize her, but admittedly that was because they weren't familiar with touhou in the first place. still, the concern's still there.

the piece is based on a piece of dialogue spoken by junko in legacy of lunatic kingdom (looking it up now, it's also the stage name.) just the concept of "dwelling under the same heaven" and if you can't do that with another person, it basically means "I cannot coexist with you, die!"

so, what if junko WAS "the heavens"? her hatred of chang'e became so powerful it proceeded transcend her very being and transformed her into a cosmic force

and that's basically the concept of this piece. junko's grudge becomes astronomical, and the heavens themselves proceeds to grasp onto the moon with the intent to crush her nemesis. (yeah did you know there's a hand and moon there?)

on another note, sorry for not uploading this sooner. I haven't been active on any social media recently. basically, life's in the way. college and personal stuff. maybe I'll be more active on tumblr at some point, just not now.

I need to stop putting in a needless amount of effort into concepts.

anyway, I posted her once before, but it was extremely unfinished and I just wanted to redraw the whole thing anyway. I like the current version a lot better.

I've been working on her on and off mostly because I just run out of motivation extremely easily. my bad

anyway, a few tidbits about kuanglong:

I guess if you care about tones it's technically "bēnfàng kuánglóng"

she is a wani

she is the ex-matriarch of a decently sized ragtag crew of bony fish spirits known as the jiangulin clan.

they're more like a gang of ruffians than an organization.

she wound up thrusting her role onto her assistant and left. guaiyu was not happy about this.

she seems to live up to her name as a wild, mad dragon.

she's also known to prioritize her own whims and personal freedoms above all else, likely to an extreme.

her ability is to manipulate ebb and flow.

it seems to extent beyond just anything related to water.

anyway, I had a blast participating in this collab! everyone did so well, and it's like my first time doing a big collab like this too. I'm down for doing another one at some point lmao

so, fun fact: the submission is a revised post. the original was a bit bigger, but had too much going on with effects. I decided to tone down the lighting and size so it wasn't as overwhelming.

anyway, to be clear, these are AU versions of junko and hecatia for a crossover RP setting called "taara". these variants originate from the setting itself.

I still have no idea how to draw hecatia.

these are also the precursors to my ocs yuanshu and trivia I'm still trying to work on fixing the taaran variants
