I know that my skin is the wrong shade for Sunshine, but I go outside so rarely that I forgot to put on or bring sunscreen. So that was a thing that happened.

Made mini muffins

Chocolate espresso with caramel chips. They are amazing.

The other ones were supposed to be something like carrot cake, with carrots and raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, nuts and orange zest. My husband tries one and goes they taste like literally nothing. Of course I didn't believe him. But he's right. Somehow, despite all those ingredients, they have literally zero flavor 🤣🤣. I didn't know that was possible.

For those of you who might not want to bother clicking on the link without knowing what’s up, Ao3 has a legal team and there are three new potential issues out there looking to become Problems for those of us in USA fandom spaces. I won’t cover all the details because I am very bad at understanding legalese but basically-

1. there’s a Bill that just got past the House of Representatives that is called SHOP SAFE and it basically means that ya’ll can kiss your fan merch goodbye on places like ebay, etsy, patreon, etc. For obvious reasons that’s really bad, not just for those of us who want to buy cool fan merch made by fellow fans but for those of us who can’t find/hold a regular job for various reasons and need to pay rent by selling this sort of thing.

2. there’s a proposed bill called the EARN IT act that is supposed to help crack down on photography/posting of child porn, which obviously would be a good thing, but it’s worded *so loosely* that it means anti-lgbt+ lobbiests/other people could use it to crack down on lgbt+ artwork/photography and force searches of internet users’ private materials. Which obviously is a big no-no on the privacy front.

3. there is a new proposal that would force websites, including Ao3 and other fan posting sites, to try to filter out “copyright infringing material”. Ie your fanfic/art/etc. These measures wouldn’t take into account fair use material and like-

You’re on tumblr. You lived through the nsfw-filtering ai fiasco like the rest of us. Do you really want things like that and like Youtube’s brain dead copyright strike system to become the norm for other websites and fan spaces?

Seriously read the blog post for all the details including how to help slap sense into the people trying to push this stuff through if you live in the USA. Also go yell at your local senator/representative.

Also also please reblog this so that other people can also yell at the idiots who won’t leave our fan spaces alone.

A and B both have 15-year-old daughters. Recently, daughters discovered each other on social media, without realising they had met before, when they were both wee little things.

Please repost this around! Recently I had to take my cat to the emergency vet. She's on the mend now, but I need help recovering the vet bills and medication, as well as looking ahead to the follow-up with her usual vet. As of posting we're only a third of the way there (the total goal is $300), so there's still a ways to go.

Anyway. The first good thing was our new area manager, K, arriving to chat to us and get to know us. She used to work in the warehouse and worked her way up, so at least she has some insider knowledge about the org, it's strengths, and its weaknesses.

She does seem lovely tho, and I basically hung around her for like, the better part of two hours lol as we chatted and she got to know us and the store. She brought us a whole pile of eletrical goods to sell and we pared down some of the plastic containers that don't really sell.

She also understands our need for better communication - lol apparently every shop she's been to has told her that. XD So hopefully things might improve on that front. :D?

Second good thing was seeing M, the lady I work with on Fridays, who I hadn't expected to see, but I think K called her in on the wrong day or something idk. But she got the biggest hug from me bc I have indeed missed her so much. <3 It was so nice to catch up with her and I'm so excited to go in on Friday to chat to her some more. :D

Third best thing was that K is gonna let J come back, the lady I used to work with on Fridays, so there won't just be M and me on Friday afternoons, and BOY have I missed her too! :D We're getting the gang back together hell yeah! :D J moved to another store that's closer to her (and for other reasons as well) but our prev area manager didn't want her working in our store so we were just stuck with me and M fml. But not K! :D K's letting her work one day (on Fridays) again bweeeee. :D

Also K is very understanding that, you know, life happens. if the store closes bc of lack of staff, it closes. If you're sick, or can't come in, that's okay. And, like, it is nice to feel like someone is actually listening to us and respects us, you know?
