The original birthday plans for Kangjoon’s birthday were easily overthrown once Luda heard their debut date. Debut was exciting, no doubt, but she was still sad that she couldn’t go through with her surprise. Of course, she’d planned for this and had a back-up gift. Even if she thought the original plan was much better, as long as he’d be happy, that’s what mattered.

The wrapping paper showed cute corgis and it was addressed to “DE:CODES VICI”, the sender’s address being that of a friend of her’s as she hadn’t been able to send it off herself. Upon opening the box he would find a letter on top of a smaller box, wrapped in the same paper. The letter’s written in a neat, careful hand and a bit shorter than she would’ve liked it to be.

“Dear Seunghwan, time flies, doesn’t it? It’s been a bit over three years since we met at the zoo. I hope you remember because otherwise it may be a bit difficult to figure out who I am since I’m having this box travel incognito, hehe. It feels like forever ago, even though three years aren’t that much, but now look at us, both debuted… Ah! The plushie in the box is another clue, I hope you like it even though it’s a plushie. Happy, happy birthday and have a nice day, alright? I’d give you a cake but that doesn’t travel so well, so it’ll have to wait :( I had really nice plans, too, but next time! Rest well, it’s your day after all, happy birthday!”

Once he gets to the box (unless he unwraps that first) he finds a Ryan the Lion plush, wearing a grey hoodie. It holds a stick with a piece of paper glued to it, saying “Seunghwannie’s #1 fan!”

He doesn't expect to receive a tower of birthday gifts addressed to him sent to the Royal building, but here he was slowly working his way through the messages. Most of them were genunine congratulatory messages coming from the few fans he had made since his debut, some were sweeter than others, but all together it made him happy and grateful to be thought of on this day. His birthday tended to bear a bittersweet meaning to it, as it always served him as a reminder how his parents couldn't be with him and celebrate him getting a year older.

One letter grabbed his attention as it was written in a neat and careful way, and as soon as he read through the first few lines, he started to grin. It was obvious who sent it to him. He still remembered their first meeting which was actually a blind date to meet up at the night zoo back then. Strange how things had went for them because he still remembered how he had actually found Luda quite adorable and attractive, but after hanging around they never actually went for another date, even though he wouldn't have minded. The two of them hadn't seen each other that often, especially not after he and Hyuna became an item, but they still somehow managed to become better friends over the time. And in all honesty, Kang Joon was glad their friendship was growing strong, since it was rare to meet such a nice and friendly girl.

Wondering what kind of plans she had actually thought of before, he grabbed his phone and was about to shoot her a message, before noticing how he didn't open up her gift yet. Quickly ripping open the box, he was greeted by a Ryan the Lion plush and had to laugh. So she was still remembering how he had worn a shirt with Ryan on it during their first meeting. How sweet of her, he thought, and while he settle the plushie on his lap, he began typing a text message.

it was his very first birthday as a debuted idol, and he couldn't contain his excitement about celebrating it with fans. of course, he would have preferred a mini fan-meeting over a v-live like this, but then again he also was realistic about his schedule this month. october was filled with a lot of events to attend to: isac, the halloween wonderland and his individual schedules. maybe it would have been possible to squeeze a fan-meeting in between, but he didn't wanted to risk overworking himself, when it was such a happy day. normally kang joon tended to be rather melancholic during these days, as it always remembered him about not being able to celebrate the day of his birth with his parents, but this year there was so much to look forward to, there was no way he could sulk in the corner. he was finally living his dream, so he had to smile, smile that bright his late parents would be proud looking down from the heavens.

now that he had teased a upcoming v-live for his birthday, kang joon had thought of a special treat for those who were willing to watch him: inspired by otome-games and boyfriend videos, he planned to spend some time with the audience as his birthday date. on his sns he had asked for some interactive requests to integrate into this v-live, while also accepting live requests. after recruiting hongjoong as camera man and stand-in date for a few requests, he gave a sign to start recording.
