he tries to fight the grin threatening to take over his face and fails miserably. daniel just has that effect on people even when he’s not in the room. “he’s a really good friend and an amazing person.” sincerity isn’t hard to access when he’s talking about any of the empty enigma members, but daniel more than the others. “i mean, when i first met him, i actually didn’t think we would get along at all, but that’s the thing about daniel: he wins you over without even trying. i don’t think he realizes just how charming and loveable he is… or maybe he does and he’s actually got us right where he wants us…” daniel the manipulative mastermind is a concept to think about, but sungwoon chuckles and shakes his head. that’s not him. 

“we have our moments,” he continues. “i’m not gonna say he’s perfect or anything—but i know he has a good heart and i care about him. i care about what happens to him, i care whether he’s happy or sad, i care that he—” breaking off, he covers his face with his hands to hide the faint blush in his cheeks. “it’s… really easy to blur the lines and get confused with daniel. it’s really easy to fall in love with him and i don’t blame the people who fell hard during the mgas, but that’s just how he is. i try not to read too much into it.” the band means too much to the both of them to entertain any of what he feels towards daniel seriously. sungwoon shrugs and plays with the hem of his shirt. “he’s my friend,” he says resolutely, more in an attempt to convince himself than anyone else. “and i’m honestly grateful he’s stuck by me after all my dumbassery last year.” even when he probably shouldn’t have, he stayed and he worried and he never gave up on sungwoon. it means more than he can say.

between my trainee seniors, though, i’m the closest to the boys, so i really look up to baekhyun and jaehyun. i think seonho is one of most hardworking people i’ve met, but he also really likes being silly having fun with me, so i feel inclined to give him a lower spot. as for girls, shiah is a great performer who also helped me personally when i needed it. on the other hand, lisa is very pretty and i look up to her in that sense. i think i’ve been bettering my sense of fashion, but she leaves most people to dust.”
