Petra and her father own the small store where Levi resupplies weekly for cleaning products. Although their store doesn't have as much diversity as the other ones in the market, Levi prefers shopping there, partly because Petra was the first shopkeeper to not smother him with questions.

Petra is grateful for Levi's support of their store, and despite his constant reminder that the gesture is unnecessary, she has a personalized "Captain" discount for him.

Petra loves to bake, and every Sunday, she brings muffins for the store's clients. By coincidence, that is also the day Levi chooses for shopping. He never misses a week, even if all he ends up buying is a cleaning rag.

For the first few weeks, their conversation never goes past details about the products or small talk about the weather. Petra feels slightly intimidated by Levi, so he's the one to make the first step in getting to know her. Over time, his usual fifteen minutes shopping session turns into an hour.

Petra could listen to Levi's description of the outside world over and over again. She often daydreams of how the horizon would look without the Walls in the way. She noticed Levi never tells her about the horrors she's sure he's seen on his expeditions.

Petra's father stops coming to the store, and Levi doesn't miss Petra's dark circles and puffy eyes. She tells him her father was bedridden from a sudden disease they could not afford treatment for. Levi promises he would ask Erwin if they could help.

The solution Erwin gives him is far from what he would have had in mind, and after a few days of thinking it over, Levi decides to leave the choice to Petra.

A way for her father to get treatment would be for him to get treated in a military hospital, but only if Petra became Levi's wife. Her father refuses without a second thought, not wanting his only daughter to waste her youth for his sake. Petra is determined to have her father by her side for as long as she can, and after Levi promises her they would only be married in name, she makes her choice.

Levi promises her they could divorce the minute her father doesn't require treatment anymore, and he makes a contract for the both of them to sign on it. They agree to live separately, but Levi promises to visit her weekly.

He comes over for dinner every time his schedule allows it, always with a small flower bouquet he claims to have stumbled upon in the market. Petra bakes him muffins to take back to the barracks to his team, but Levi loves them so much he contemplates keeping them all to himself. He asks Petra to teach him to bake as well, and after a few failed attempts, Petra wakes up to a basket of decent-looking and tasting muffins on her doorstep.

Whenever he has Sunday off, Levi likes to take Petra on picnics in the wood near town. They pick up herbs and mushrooms together, and Levi teaches her how to ride a horse. Petra is the second person after himself that his horse takes a special liking to.

Petra is worried for Levi every time he goes on an expedition, but she never voices it. His job is a subject he never addresses since he doesn't want her light to dim. But Petra sees him off every time Levi goes beyond the Wall, putting a flower she picks from her garden on his saddle every time. Every time a soldier gets eaten in front of him, and Levi can't do anything to stop it, he focuses on the flower instead.

When her father gets admitted to the hospital for a night, Petra confesses to Levi that it would be her first time staying alone in her house. She asks him to spend the night with her, and he offers to sleep on the couch. Petra asks him to stay with her until she falls asleep, and for both of their surprises, he's the one to sleep first. He wakes up with her head on his chest, but he leaves before she wakes up.

After the first night in her house, Levi takes one of her ribbons to keep in his chest pocket. He wants a reminder of the good and beauty he's fighting to preserve.

Petra used to be a university student at Trost but when her mom died, she had to help with the family business (her dad’s a storekeeper and she’s an only child so she has to pick up the slack)

But things start getting suspicious when Levi starts sending her gifts like jewelry and dresses (he totally gets off to taking care of someone too, she isn’t shy about what she uses his money for)

They meet for the first time when the Scouts are on leave, and holy shit, Levi’s super attracted to her

Not wanting to be a complete creep, he doesn’t force or suggest anything other than a date, but Petra also finds him attractive, and they get a hotel and stay there for the entire weekend 

After that, Levi is completely smitten with her and Petra admits to herself that it’s turning into more than just being a sugar baby

Once a month they get together and Levi pays for Petra to travel to him. She tells her dad she’s meeting a friend from university

As it turns out, Petra has a huge praise kink and Levi loves giving it to her and taking her shopping when they’re together and whispering things like you’re going to look so pretty in this later and you’re so fuckable

When she introduces him to her dad, he’s confused how Petra had time to meet someone in the Scouts, and she just blushes and said the military had a pen pal program

Levi joined the British army along with his childhood best friend, Farlan, while Petra volunteered to be a nurse, much to her father`s dismay, a war veteran.

Petra and Levi meet when he and Farlan get hurt. Levi is aggressive because of his wounds, and Petra volunteers to be the one to care for him. Her calm voice helps him calm down, and she sings for him while she stitches the cuts on his face.

Petra cares for Levi while he is recovering, paying extra attention when she`s redressing his wounds or helping him maintain his hygiene. Levi barely talks to her, but Petra knows he is grateful for her help.

When she helps him take the bandages off his face, Petra is reluctant about giving him the mirror, and his first reaction is to push her away. Despite knowing Petra for a short time, Levi takes a liking to her, and the last thing he wants to see on her face is disgust.

Petra comes back to his bed that evening with two cups of tea made out of her personal stash of leaves, having already noticed Levi`s love for it. Levi lets her sit next to him, but he is still cold towards her, not raising his eyes from his cup. Petra starts babbling how despite his scars, he is still a very handsome man, and any girl would be lucky to hold his arm. Levi doesn`t miss the faint blush on her cheeks while she`s saying it.

Farlan notices the couple getting closer over the weeks and tells Levi to make his move before they get called back, and he`ll regret not telling Petra how he feels about her. Levi takes his advice, and out of other options, he invites Petra on a walk in the evening. He`s too shy to take her hand, but Petra notices him struggling, so she makes the step for him. They lie on the ground to stargaze, and Petra asks him what his plans are for when the war ends. He tells her that the first thing he wants to do is take her on a real date, and they kiss.

A few days later, Levi and Farlan get called back to the front, and Levi urges Petra not to be sad. He promises her he will do anything to get back to her and that they would exchange letters as often as they could. Petra gives him a photo of her to remember her by, and he always keeps it in his breast pocket.

In the letters, they never talk about the state of the war or the horrors they witness but about the bright future waiting for them. Levi promises to visit her childhood village to meet her parents the first chance they get.

He tries his best to keep his promise to Petra, but while fighting, Levi gets wounded protecting Farlan. They`re away from any medical help, and Farlan tries to dress the wound as best as he can, but he realizes Levi has no chance to make it. While he succumbs to sepsis, Levi hallucinates Petra and the life they would have had together, and she is the last image he sees before he dies. He dies with her photo in his hand, and Farlan takes it with him.

Petra`s mom had an affair with Rod Reiss. Upon discovering she was pregnant, she worried for her child`s future, and she went into hiding with the help of one of the men working for Rod, who had a soft spot for her. He helped her get settled inside Wall Rose and got her a job at an inn. She and Petra remained there, and Petra took up a job serving tables at the inn`s dining place.

Erwin uncovered the truth about the real royal family from one of Rod`s men, who told him about Petra`s existence as well, worried that Rod himself was close to finding her. Seeing an opportunity in being the first to discover this, Erwin took Levi, and they went to see Petra and her mom.

Erwin wanted to observe Petra first before letting Levi in on his plan. They had dinner at the inn, and Petra served their food. Erwin tried to make small talk with her, but Petra kept throwing looks at Levi, whom she found more interesting. Levi was quiet, and when Erwin asked him what he thought of Petra, he just brushed it off, as he would never admit that he found her beautiful. When she brought their note, Petra smiled at Levi and wished him a good night, and he just nodded at her.

When they got to their room, Erwin told Levi about the truth of Petra`s identity. It took Levi all the self-control he had not to hit Erwin across the face when he told him he needed him to marry Petra. Erwin planned to overthrow the current rule, and he thought it would be in his interest to have someone on the throne that he could control. He told Levi that by doing this, he would also keep Petra safe from her father, so Levi agreed to the fake marriage if Petra was in on it.

They both went to talk to Petra and her mom in the morning. Petra was shocked upon learning the truth about her identity, and she strolled out on the meeting. Erwin told them to keep an eye out for Rod`s men and get back to him when they made a decision. Levi went out to look for Petra, and he found her sitting on a bench in the square. He didn`t tell her anything at first, waiting for her to talk to him if that`s what she wanted. Petra thanked him for checking up on her, and she told him about her mom and how her life had been so far. Levi told her again that she didn`t have to do this if this isn`t what she wanted and assured her that he would never do something to harm her if she chose to marry him.

They both went back to the inn, and Petra told Erwin that she needs some time to think about it and that she would get back to them when she made up her mind.

A week later, Erwin got a letter with Petra`s answer. A few days later, along with a few other scouts, they waited for Petra to walk down the aisle. For her wedding day, she wore a simple white dress and had a small lily bouquet in her hands. Levi was dressed in his military attire. After she got next to Levi, he told her she looked decent enough, and Erwin smiled, knowing that this was Levi`s equivalent of telling her she was gorgeous. Petra was nervous throughout the ceremony, and Levi took her hand in his and squeezed it. They skipped their vows, and when the kissing part came, Petra got flustered. Levi got nervous as well, but he tried to hide it. He raised her veil and gave her a chaste kiss, which to their surprise, they both deepened and prolonged. The sound of the guests clapping make them break it off, and they made their way back to the barrack for their wedding night. Petra changed into a casual dress while Levi prepared tea for the two of them. They had dinner and tea in his room and spent the whole night talking about each other. Levi was surprised at how comfortable he felt in her presence, and Petra felt the same way about him. She was happy Levi was opening up to her, as she first saw him as a very private man. When Petra fell asleep, he carried her to his bed, and he went to sleep in a chair.

Petra moved in with him in the separate building that the Special Ops squad used, and everyone in the Corps was curious to learn more about Levi`s beautiful wife and how he got someone like her. Most of them were too scared of Levi to try to talk to her, except for Levi`s squad, who bombarded Petra with questions at breakfast the next day. They all hit it off right away, and Petra became close to them, especially to Eld. They fell in love with Petra instantly, especially when she started baking sweets for them.

Petra found a job at another inn near the barracks, and Levi came to pick her up from work every evening. After having dinner with the guys, they retired to their bedroom, where Levi continued writing his paperwork, and Petra usually read. She prepared tea for them every time, and after seeing how much Levi is struggling with paperwork, she told him to teach her how to help him. They spent the free extra time talking, and sometimes Levi took her up to the roof for stargazing. They both developed feelings for the other over time, but neither of them was ready to make a move.

Petra took the bed, and Levi assured her every night that he didn`t need one to sleep, that he was better off in his chair. Eventually, she convinced him that they could share it, and even though they had some distance between them, Levi found himself falling asleep from time to time.

Petra came to the gate to see them off for every expedition, and she spent the whole day thinking about Levi`s safety. On one mission, Levi got hurt, and Petra ran home from work when she got the news. He didn`t want to go to the medical ward, so Petra stitched up his wounds in their bedroom. Petra sat on his lap, and she kissed him, putting all of her love into it. Levi reciprocated the kiss, and when they broke it off, Petra told him how she feels about him. Levi told her he liked her as well, and their marriage turned into a real one from that point.

Erwin was expecting this, and Gunther, Eld, and Oluo were surprised that it took them this long to get together. Hange lifted Levi in their arms and asked them how long until there`s a baby with his scowl running around the barracks. Petra feared for their life at that moment.

When Levi lost his squad, he had Petra by his side, and they mourned together. He tried to keep her safe and left her at the inn while he went to guard Eren. Petra wasn`t happy to be separated from Levi, but she understood he wanted to keep her safe.

When Rod found out about Petra being his daughter, he had her kidnapped along with Eren. She tried to fight his men off and hoped Levi would get news of it in time. When Hange told him Petra went missing, he swore to kill anyone who dared to lay a finger on her.

Rod tried to get close to Petra at first, but she didn`t fall for his act. He tried to convince her that eating Eren was her duty, but she refused. Petra heard Levi fighting Kenny and tried to make a run for it. Rod overpowered her, and Levi entered the room only to witness as Rod injected Petra with the titan serum in her neck. He froze, conflicted between saving his wife or saving Eren. To their surprise, Petra never transformed, and Rod tried to inject her again. Petra kicked him, and the last syringe broke, and Rod consumed the remaining serum in her place.

Levi hurried and took Petra in his arms and apologized for not taking better care of her. She kissed him to shut up his ranting and told him to go after her father. Even though he never voiced it out, Petra knew losing Kenny hurt Levi, and she stayed by his side to mourn together when it happened.

After defeating Rod, Levi took Petra to Hange, so they could figure out why the serum didn`t work on her. They discovered that Petra was pregnant, and her carrying a child with Ackerman blood made her immune to the serum.

Levi was ecstatic about them having a child together, and he swore he would never let her or their child get hurt again. He and Petra cried when they heard the news. Levi threatened Hange that if the words about this ever leave their mouth, it would also be their last.

Petra was crowned queen, and she and Levi promised that they would try to make Paradise a better place for the people. Levi threatened Petra`s new council from the first meeting, saying that he would not hesitate to kill anyone who ever tries to transform his wife into a shifter.

After Shiganshina, Levi was devastated by Erwin`s death. Petra gave him all the time and space he needed, letting him know that she is there for him should he need her comfort. Hearing the truth about the world didn`t make them regret having a child, and it only made Levi more motivated to fight for what he loved.

Petra`s parents have been Levi`s biggest fans since Petra joined the Survey Corps. They were a bit wary about Petra having such a dangerous job, but her working directly under Levi made them calmer about the situation. Petra`s mom sends knitted sweaters to Levi for his birthday, and her dad always makes sure to add his favorite tea leaves to it. Petra`s dad brags to every customer about how her daughter was so good at her job that her boss was Humanity`s Strongest Soldier.

They figured out that Petra had a crush on Levi in no time, though Petra kept denying it when they brought it up. They asked Petra to invite her captain for lunch ever since then. She refused every time, saying they would probably embarrass her to death. Every time they wait for her return from an expedition, Petra forbids them from bothering Levi.

On one Friday, Petra was getting her horse ready to ride home for the weekend, and she saw Levi approaching her, with a flower bouquet in hand. She asked him if he needed her help with something before she left, and he just asked why she`s not ready to go yet. Petra asked him what he was talking about, and he just handed her a letter. Her mouth dropped open when she read the lunch invite Levi got from her family. He just told her- "Close your mouth already and let`s go, it`s rude to be late."

The whole way to her house, Petra mostly stayed quiet, boiling in anger at her parents. She was scared of Levi figuring out how she felt about him. Levi was excited to meet her parents since Petra always talked about them with love. He also appreciated how they never forgot to send him a birthday gift, and he wanted to repay their kindness.

When they got to the house, Petra`s mother almost sprinted to open the gate for them. Levi is surprised to see how much Petra takes after her mother, her being a younger version of her mother. Levi gives her the flower bouquet, and Petra feels her breathing stop when she hugs Levi for it. He doesn`t reciprocate, but he doesn`t seem too bothered by it either. Her mother ignores the murderous look on her daughter`s face and invites them both to the garden for tea.

Petra goes to the house to talk to her father instead. Her mother and Levi can hear Petra screaming at her dad inside the house about them stepping over the line. Petra`s mother clears her throat and asks Levi if the trip was pleasant. They talk for a bit before Petra and her dad come out of the house, carrying a tray of tea. Petra is out of formal attire, wearing a long white dress instead, and he takes a moment too long to look at her.

Her dad shakes Levi`s hand and serves him tea. Levi takes a sip, and after recognizing his favorite tea, he commends Petra`s dad on his tastes. Her parents thank Levi for coming, and he tells them he`s been wanting to visit them for a while, to thank them for their gifts. They have small talk, and Petra`s dad keeps praising Petra. He tells Levi about how good of a cook and cleaner she is and how she would make any man happy, and Levi agrees with him. Petra kicks her dad under the table, but that doesn`t get him to stop. Levi tells her parents about Petra being one of the best soldiers he`s ever worked with, and Petra goes red from his compliments. Her dad points it out and asks her if she`s feeling alright, and Petra swears she is going to kill him after Levi leaves. Levi offers to bring her a glass of water, but she blames it on the heat.

Petra`s dad tells Levi about his vegetable stall and how he can`t wait for the war to end and for Petra to take it over since old age is catching up with him. He winks at Levi and tells him he hopes a son-in-law can help Petra with it, and Petra almost crawls under the table with embarrassment.

They go inside to have dinner, and Levi compliments Petra`s mom on the food. It had been a while since he had some homemade food, and he was grateful for the opportunity. Levi wasn`t comfortable with a lot of people, but he liked Petra`s parents a lot. Petra and her mom go to bring dessert, and her mom tells her she made a good choice, that Levi seems like a great man. She rolls her eye and tells her she`s just imagining things, that Levi is just her captain and nothing more. They come back to the table with strawberry cake, and Petra`s mother points out how both chocolate and strawberries are aphrodisiacs. Petra chokes on her food, and Levi has to give her the Heimlich maneuver. Her parents bring her water to drink and tell her to lay down for a bit.

Levi tells her that her parents seem to like him, and she goes on and tells him about how they`ve been his biggest fans for years now. He sits down on the bed next to her and tells her that her dad has been talking about marriage ever since she left. Petra`s eyes get big, and she starts ranting again, apologizing and telling him how old age must be affecting his thinking. Levi looks at her and tells her- "Shut up and just kiss me." and Petra`s mouth drops open, not even sure she heard him right. He gets closer to her, and she gets the courage to place a chaste kiss on his lips. He pushes her down on the bed and deepens the kiss, and they both miss out on Petra`s parents walking into the room. Petra`s dad gasps and her mom pulls him out of the room, and they both giggle and cheer at how their plan finally worked.

Levi and Petra rejoin them after a few minutes, and her parents are all smiles. Petra`s dad is even more cheerful than before, and her mom has to kick him under the table several times to prevent him from letting them know they saw them.

When evening falls, Petra`s parents walk them to the gate. Levi thanks them again for inviting him, and her mom hugs him again. Petra hugs her parents, and her dad whispers in her ear about how she should thank them. She kicks his shoulder playfully, but she laughs at his antics.

Their parents had been friends and neighbors ever since before Levi and Petra were born. Levi was born three years before Petra, and when he first met her, he wanted to take her back home with him. He cried when his mother told him Petra had to stay with her own family, but Kuchel promised Levi he could see her as often as he wanted to. Having tea parties with Levi was never fun for Petra. Kuchel had to come in and calm a crying Petra every time, as her son took the game too seriously. Levi was strict about the water temperature or the infusing time, while Petra just wanted to pretend their plushies had a cup.

They spent Christmas together, and Levi got his first tea set from Petra and her family. It became one of his most prized possessions, and he took it with him even when he left for college. Levi gifted Petra a teddy bear plushie with a scout`s uniform on, and she slept with it up to adulthood.

Their parents thought they were adorable together. Levi once told them all he would be marrying Petra when they grew up, and they were all happy with the idea. Petra was family for Kuchel and vice versa when it came to Levi.

They attended the same school, and no child dared to be mean to Petra ever since Levi slapped a child who was mean to Petra on the first day. It kept up until high school, a reason why Petra never dated because the guys courting her became intimidated by Levi. But Petra didn`t mind since there was only one boy she was interested in dating.

They had weekly sleepovers up until Levi got into high school, and he started getting dates. Petra and Levi still talked, but their relationship started growing colder since Levi dedicated most of his free time to his girlfriends. Petra`s feelings for Levi shifted to romance in time, but she felt like he still saw her like a little sister. They had lunch together at high school, but Petra was hurt by spending time with Levi and his girlfriends.

When Levi met Hange and Erwin, he included Petra in the group. They noticed Petra`s feelings towards him and tried to discreetly let Levi know, but he was oblivious to their hints.

They had a favorite diner they used to frequent since they were children. Even though he was a clean freak, Levi shared a milkshake with Petra every time, using the same straw. When Levi started dating, their outings became less and less frequent. A few weeks before his graduation, Petra got a text from Levi announcing her he got admitted to a university on the other side of the country. Petra was truly happy for him, but she still felt sad over the thought of losing him. Levi sensed she was off in her texts, and when he didn`t find her at home, he knew where to look for her. He found her drinking a milkshake at their favorite diner, with her eyes puffy and red from crying. Levi told her he wouldn`t be leaving until she smiled for him, and she couldn`t help the smile coming on her face instantly. Petra told him she was happy for him, but she would miss him a lot. Levi took her in his arms and promised he would always be there for her.

Levi leaving for college was hard for her, but she was thankful she had both her mother and his by her side. Hange and Erwin left for the same college as Levi, but Petra met Eld, Gunther, and Oluo, and they instantly bonded. Levi still texted her from time to time, and they used to meet for dinner when he came home from college, but he was usually accompanied by his dates.

Petra said she didn`t want to attend her prom, and her mother told her she had a surprise and to still buy a dress for it. On the day of the prom, Petra`s mom took her to get her dolled up, and when they came back home, Levi was sitting in their living room, dressed in a tux. Petra jumped into his arms, and he just told her he couldn`t miss her prom. During their slow dancing, Petra put her head on his shoulder and tried to gather the courage to kiss him, but the fear of rejection made her miss her opportunity. Levi left for college the next day.

The texting got less and less frequent, with them only texting birthday wishes, and Petra tried to forget about him. She still talked to Kuchel, who mentioned what Levi had been up to. He became a partner in a law firm pretty young, while Petra became a cop.

When she moved to Trost, Kuchel called Petra and told her Levi was living in the same town as her and that she gave him her new phone number. She got a text from Levi the same day, asking her if she was free to meet him. While she told herself she felt nothing for Levi anymore, Petra still got dolled up for their meeting. When she saw Levi enter the coffee shop in a suit, all grown up, the butterflies in Petra`s stomach resurfaced. When he took her in his arms, Levi squeezed her harder than she expected him to. He complimented her appearance, and they talked for hours about what they had been up to.

Levi asked if she was dating someone, and when she said she wasn`t, Petra swore he could see a pleased smile on his lips. He offered to show her around time on the weekend, and she happily accepted. They visited a few museums, and towards evening, he pulled her into an old diner. Levi told her it wasn`t their spot, but they could pretend. They shared a milkshake just like they used to, and Levi wasn`t ready for the evening to end.
