I think the biggest thing I'm looking forward to about running Draw Steel is having an encounter builder that ACTUALLY WORKS. I was hoping D&D(2024) would've addressed the combat balance issues, but it had even less information. After five years of DMing in 5e, either my combats are too easy or too challenging.
From what I understand of Draw Steel, they managed to handle balance a lot better while still providing fun and dynamic gameplay.

Sorry I haven't been posting as much, real life shit been going on.
So, been working on a special writing project, showed some snips and notes to a friend. Now, for context, we're both white. And he discovered my character Bo. Bo is an unhinged, science loving, ass kicking bit of minor nobility from her world. She gets caught by the bad guys, plays along to learn their plans, then prepares to blow the merry hell outta the keep their holding her in. She absolutely, like her comrades, bodies her monstrous opponents. At NO POINT does she require a dude to save her; in fact, she saves several Big Manly Men over the course of the story. That's NOT what set off my soon to be former friend.
Bo is black.
He actually went on a screed about she should be white, how I was putting in a "token" character to be "liberal woke". Problem is, black characters are all over the story. So are Asians, Caucasians, cat men, lizard men, trans demon girls and a particularly grumpy puddle. Bit because Bo is one of the Main Heroes, and because SHE rescues white guys quite a few times, he lost his shit
