First General Assembly of DANUBIUS-ERIC, held in Bucharest, at the National Authority for Research. With this meeting, DANUBIUS-ERIC becomes operational!
DANUBIUS-ERIC receives its official recognition with a plate awarded at the RTI Conference, under the Danish Presidency of the EU Council. Jean-David Malo, Acting Director, ERA & Innovation, DG RTD, European Comission hands over the Official Plaque to Adrian Stanica (coordinator of the ESFRI initiative DANUBIUS-RI) and Mihaela Paun (coordinator of DANUBIUS-Romania) 🥳

DANUBIUS-RI becomes DANUBIUS-ERIC!
We are thrilled to announce the European Commission has granted the legal status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) to DANUBIUS-RI, the International Centre for Advanced Studies on River-Sea Systems. Following acceptance on the ESFRI roadmap in 2016, this new status solidifies DANUBIUS-RI’s position to provide the inter-disciplinary scientific expertise and facilities to sustainably manage and protect River-Sea Systems in Europe and beyond.

Great to have Francesca De Pascalis of @CnrIsmar present @DANUBIUSRI in the @ITINERIS_RI Booth at the #GEOGlobalForum in Rome 🇮🇹 this week, showcasing the significant contributions of @ESFRI_eu Environmental Research Infrastructures to the GEO community.
#CNR's involvement in the #ITINERIS initiative underscores its commitment at national level to advancing marine science and contributing to global environmental research efforts. Moreover, The GEO Global Forum provided a valuable platform to share the DANUBIUS-RI's research, knowledge, services and strengthen partnerships within the international research community. #EGU25
DANUBIUS-RI Innovation in Action Workshops
As part of the implementation strategy of the DANUBIUS-RI Science and Innovation agenda, the Hydro Nation Chair’s David Millar and Deryck Irving, from the University of Stirling (USTIR) ran a series of innovation in action workshops to help our supersites identify critical problems and build solutions to solve them. This work is key to co-developing a roadmap to support the translation of research outputs into innovation opportunities.

Coastal Dynamics 2025 brings DANUBIUS-RI into focus
We’ve just wrapped up the DANUBIUS-RI dedicated session "Restoring river-coast dynamics" at Coastal Dynamics 2025 in Aveiro, Portugal. The session focused on the scientific agenda of DANUBIUS-RI and brought together a strong group of presenters, including both potential users and researchers applying DANUBIUS-RI concepts in their work.
