Gullstar and Riverlightning get into a heated argument that ends with Riverlightning lashing out and clawing Gullstar. Tawnyspot leaps to Gullstar's defense and ends up fighting Riverlightning, leaving all three cats injured.

An odd but all the same prickly tom, Riverlightning is an oddity among Gullclan's ranks β mostly due to his seeming hate for Gullstar himself. He stays around, if only for the sake of his nephew Splashfoot, but he can often be caught glaring at the leader or nitpicking the other tom's choices, all the way down to what prey he chose that morning. Riverlightning sees Gullstar's methodology of not starting any fights but most definitely ending them stupid β letting the other clans walk all over them until there's no choice but to fight back doesn't make Gullstar the "bigger person". It makes the clan as a whole look weak; they may as well be those woven mats that Twolegs put in their doorways to wipe off their paw-covers.
Riverlightning is convinced that he would've been a better leader for Gullclan β both before the clan was truly formed, and even more so now that it's an official group. Most of the time spent with his nephew, Riverlightning spends trying to convince Splashfoot that Gullstar really isn't all that great. He can't let his sister's kit get washed away in the tide just like everyone else.
Splashfoot gets heat exhaustion, being too overworked looking after their clanmates to look after himself.
Tansyspot recovers from their claw-wound, unscarred from his fights.
Riverlightning recovers from his injuries, though will forever be marked by a scar on his throat from the experience.
Saplingrose is washed out to sea saving Gullstar from drowning when the leader is dragged into the water by a wave. Riverlightning is inconsolable following Saplingrose's death, and barely leaves his nest to even eat or use the dirt place.

The wound on Riverlightning's throat becomes severely infected, leaving Tansyspot overcome with guilt.
A spar between Tansyspot and Gullstar gets out of hand when Tansyspot's guilt and frustration bubbles over. Partridgeholly rushes to Gullstar's aid, and manages to fend of Tansyspot before it's too late.
Gullstar and Splashfoot get into another argument; this time when Splashfoot defends Riverlightning. This time, they don't make up and Gullstar storms off, leaving Splashfoot with his uncle.
