Riverleigh. River is walking around with Anya talking about warrior things, and Evie is with Clarke in the market buying some art supplies. Evie sees River and waves, and the latter just blushes heavily and trips.
River is doing her best to mimic the signature stoic walk of her Nomon but when her honey brown eyes are met with the sight of Everleigh waving emphatically at her all the way across the city square, all signs of seriousness disappear from the small girl. A wide smile stretches across her face as she eagerly attempts to return her friendâs greeting only to clumsily trip over her own two feet. The little girlâs hands fly out to cushion her fall just to have the harsh cobble stone tear at the soft flesh of her tiny palms. River sits up to examine her hands and tears begin to form in her eyes but before before a single stray tear can make its way down her tan cheek, Evie wraps her up in a tight hug.
âUh oh,â Everleigh says and she holds on tightly to her friend.
She had witnessed Riverâs fall and immediately taken off to check on her friend. Clarke had turned just in time to see the small form of her daughter bolting away from her which sent her into a slight panic. However, when she saw what or more specifically, who Evie was running towards, it took some of her worry away.
âOkay?â
Evie asks the girl in her arms.
River sniffles and tries her hardest not to cry in front of Evie despite the burning sensation caused by the mangled flesh of her hands.
âSha,â River responds trying to be tough like her Nomon.
âRiver, let her check your handsâ Anya says nodding her head towards Clarke.
Everleigh moves out of the way so her mother can get a better look at Riverâs hands but she makes sure to remain in her friendâs line of sight. Clarke takes the small, tan hands into her own porcelain ones and inspects them closely before reaching into her satchel and pulling out a canteen and some spare bandage she kept with her at all times.
âYou have strong hands like a warriorâ Clarke tells the girl in an attempt to distract her from her ministrations.
She pours some water onto the girls wounds and begins to wrap her hands. River stares at her curiously and asks,
âReally?â
âIâve healed many wounds over the years. I know a warriorâs hands when I see them.â
River cast her her eyes towards her Nomon for confirmation and the woman nods concisely.
âItâs true. Sheâs has healed many of my wounds from battle,â Anya tells her daughter who was puffing her chest out proudly.
âEvie, Iâm a warrior,â River says brightly.
âMy warrior?â
The other girl asks with a curious smile that only grows in size when she sees River nod back at her enthusiastically.
