You stared at your reflection in the mirror, at your stomach. You looked a little bigger than you had a week ago. Your hips were the slightest bit bigger and your tummy protruded more. You frowned, you had put on weight. You were too scared to go check on the scales; the sight was easy enough to tell that you had definitely put on at least a pound. You shook your head, closed your eyes and took a deep breath. Dwelling on it will only make it worse, you said to yourself.
You turned away from the mirror and grabbed your clothes that you had laid out on your bed, ready for school. It was just a normal hoodie, a shirt and some jeans. You grabbed the jeans and pulled them on, trying to ignore that they felt a little more snug than they did a week ago. You continued dressing yourself, and once you were done you heard a buzz from your phone. You saw you had got a text from your boyfriend, Jughead.
Juggie: Iâm outside, hurry up xx
Then another
Juggie: Please xoxooxoxoxxox
You smiled at his behaviour and grabbed your stuff, walking downstairs and saying goodbye to your parents. You walked outside, shutting the door behind you.The sight of your boyfriend Jughead leaning against your front gate greeted you. You couldnât help but think âHow did I manage to get someone this attractive?â
âThereâs my girl, câmon lets go to the hell hole,â Jughead said, holding out his hand as you arrived where he was standing.
You grabbed it while laughing, âHey Juggie, dramatic as always.â
He smirked and threw a side look at you, âYou love it.â
âThat I do.â
After the small banter you both fell into a comfortable silence. Usually you would be starting conversation but you just couldnât seem to think of anything to say. The walk to school seemed to take forever. Your mind couldnât stop picking out little things that would annoy you, how your thighs would rub together and rustle from the jeans you were wearing, how your hand looked chubby compared to Jugheadâs, it wouldnât stop. It was putting you into an irritable mood.
Unfortunately Jughead seemed to notice, âY/N are you okay? Youâre more quiet than usual.â
You blinked up at him and faked a smile quickly to reassure him, âEverythingâs fine Jug, just donât feel talkative today I guess.â
Jughead paused his walking and took hold of your other hand, he studied your face and told you sincerely, âAre you sure? You can talk to me about anything you know that, right Y/N?â
You nodded your head and smiled, hiding the guilt you were feeling, âI promise Iâm okay, now câmon weâre going to be late.â
~
A couple of days passed and the miserable cloud of self-consciousness didnât seem to budge. You kept noticing how Jughead kept you giving you curious little glances. You try to act natural about it and act like nothing is wrong but Jughead is too good at finding out things to let it slide.
It was Saturday afternoon, in your bedroom when Jughead couldnât help but bring it up again.
âY/N, I know you probably donât want to talk about it but I just canât see you like this anymore, youâve been acting weird all week and I just want you to be okay, I care about you,â He told you, stroking your hair from where you were laying on his chest in your bed.
You sat up to look at him, âJuggie Iâm fine, seriously.â
He sat up as well, âY/N I know you, and I know when youâre upset. Please just tell me whatâs wrong,â he pleaded.
You sighed, he wasnât going to let this go, âI-Iâve just been annoyed because I think Iâve put on weight and itâs just bugging me okay, itâs no big deal,â You finish, looking away from him.
He starts laughing, and you look at him, confused, âSorry but whatâs funny about that?â
He smiles at you, âSeriously youâre worried about that?â
âYes! I donât want to feel like Iâm not good enough for you anymore, youâre just so perfect and too good for me and I just donât want you to feel like youâre dating someone who looks like a cow,â you blurt out.
He looks at you shocked, âOkay, baby, no. Just no. You have no idea how beautiful I think you are. You are the one that is too good for me. I donât care if you arenât skinny! Looks donât matter, what matters is that I think you are beautiful no matter what. You look no different to me, and you never will. I will love you all the same. So donât for a second think you are not amazing just the way you are. Okay?â
You slowly nod, smiling at his words, âOkay.â
He places his hands on both sides of your face and pulls you in for a kiss. You couldnât have a more perfect boyfriend.
