Derek was out getting a book. He heard Mooney’s was the place to go in New York and Laura urged him to do so. Little did he know that while he was working his way through the history section he would hear some loud banging and what sounded like screaming. It caught his attention, his body moving to check it out naturally out of curiosity. When he pulled open the wooden door he stood face to face with a blonde who looked scared out of her wits, tears down her cheeks and her fingers through the bars. She was screaming about something or someone, he couldn’t understand her but he went to the door anyways because she seemed like she was in some kind of danger and the Hale could never resist putting his life in a mess. “Stand back,” he said with a bit more force than he intended, but the adrenaline was rushing through him now, his heart pounding in his chest. “Just a step down.” He used his shoulder, ramming the door once and then twice, knocking it right off its hinge. Working out paid off. “What’s wrong?” He asked, pulling her up the steps and more into the bookstore. “Hey, take a breath. I can’t understand you.”
