Look all of my life I'd been anxious being gay because I felt as if the church and upbringing really instilled a certain homophobia within me and I kind of think they might have been a reason or one of the reasons I drank so much. It was hard for me. The fear and the self hatred. But being sober and being out and proud is something that I'm working on. The Mormon church isn't a bad thing but with all the recent events that the church has come out and enveloped and insinuated to people is to me considered dangerous for youth who are questioning and not knowing. They are dealing with a lot of what many of us are dealing with and dealt with. I'm dealing. I'm gay and I'm okay. Especially now and sober. The fear is subsiding. Fear is what I've been dealing with my entire life! I'm becoming proud of myself. And right now is the proudest I've been of myself in a long time! Listen I love the church and the experiences I have had within it, but I'm growing. I'm growing up. It's been hard for the last little while but I'm ok with it. If God/Heavenly Father exists, he is a God of Love, and aside from oversexualized toxicity of both heterosexual and homosexual culture, there is nothing ABSOLUTELY nothing with falling in love because I have and I do. I love you. #gaypride #pride #gay #nyc #love #ritznyc (at Ritz Bar & Lounge)
