Over 100 Stitchers are Collaborating Across the U.S. to Complete an Unfinished Embroidered Quilt by Late Crafter Rita Smith

#Repost @fritzs.stitches • • • • • • Fellow Stitch-People-Stitchers: I started making these remembrance portraits to post on my social media as a way to honor the lives of those who have been killed by racially motivated violence and to raise awareness of the BLM movement. I am posting to see if others would like to join me. I was thinking I could organize and assign names to folks who were interested. Then, portraits could be posted to social media and mailed to me to assemble into a larger art piece (like a tapestry/wall hanging). I am open to suggestions on what to do with the final art piece but my initial thought was to have it be a traveling piece to be displayed in the towns where contributors live (like #ritasquilt that @badasscrossstitch organized) . To be 100% clear, though, it is not my intention to profit from this project in anyway.
