Farewell Terry Hall, who has left us at age 63. I’ll never forget hearing Gangsters on WNEW’s unsigned bands segment one morning while I ate breakfast. “What was THAT?” I thought - and how can I hear more?? I feel privileged to have seen The Specials at the Hotel Diplomat in 1980 - the energy coming off the stage that night May have been equaled by other bands, but never surpassed. Besides the classics from The Specials, one of my favorite songs featuring Terry Hall was Poems, from Tricky’s collaborative Nearly God album. Here’s one of Terry’s verses: “You might have been my reason for living I gave up on giving, gave up everything We were a right pair of believers A couple of dreamers So how come you hate me?
