Days Gone - Traversing the Game World Short 4 - Rippers
They’ve been mentioned before by Deacon, but this is our first direct encounter with the Rippers—a cult of self-mutilating lunatics who traded logic for scars and worship Freakers like gods. Their rituals? Deranged. Their hygiene? Non-existent. They even coat themselves in filth to smell like the infected. Welcome to the madness.

The Daycare Attendant ripped avatar community on VRC has been slooooowly dying out over the last few months yessss 🤩
The teens and younger adults who have been running pockets of those communities have either been drawn to other interests or just gotten straight up tired of being involved with it. The larger Discords for it are growing quieter, the channels for specific rippers rarely upload new ripped edits, and with the official selling of one of their fav public avatars to rip, things have been harder on them to justify ripping it (as some claimed it was ‘ok’ because it was public and not being sold).
Some rippers are sadly still going without any remorse (saw one of them selling cheap uploads of Inky’s newest DCA model that’s for sale :/ for shame, man) but I’m optimistic that it’s starting to slow to a crawl!!
“No,” you said with a shake of your head, “he got hit hard by the Friesens...”
“They’re fucking dangerous,” he frowned, “thankfully, the Bulldogs knocked em out.”
You looked him up and down, “oh, so now you’re thankful for em...”
“Shut up,” he smiled, laughing at the irony in his statement, “I just don’t want to deal with another game where they’re trying to take me out.”
“Oh no?”
“No,” he laughed, “getting hit by them feels like you’re being run over by a train...and I kind of need to stay uninjured.”
“Darn!” you laughed.
“So...since your dad’s not playing...will you wear a Hunt sweater now?”
“Not even with me carrying your child!” you teased playfully as you touched the flat of your stomach, “this baby’s gonna live for bulldog hockey all day.”
He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to your lips, “you’re lucky you’re cute, you know that?”
“Funny...I say the same thing about you!” you teased. He shot you another wicked smile as he held you close. You playfully slid your hands down his chest and around him, “though...Hunt sweater or not...I will say, seeing you like this is doing something to me.”
“Oh yeah?” he grinned.
“Don’t know if it’s the hormones or not, but I wanna ravage you.”
He chuckled, “well, jokes on you, because I always want to ravage you.”
“I think that’s how we ended up in our current predicament!” you pointed out.
“I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.”
You leaned up and pressed a kiss to the corner of his lips, before sliding out of his grasp, “ you’ve got a game, soon enough.”
“You gonna wish me luck?”
“Hell no,” you smirked, “you’re facing my team.”
“You at least going to secretly root for me in your head?”
“I’ll never tell!” you smirked, giggling at him over your shoulder.
“I love you, Tessa Shore!” he grinned, watching as you walked away.
“Hey, kiddo...where ya been?”
You smiled as your dad wrapped an arm around your shoulder. You shrugged, “had some things to take care of before the game...”
“Yeah...” he shrugged, “so did I...”
“BROdude?”
“Yeah...”
“Sorry you’re not able to play with your team.”
“Your aunt did what she thinks was best.” he frowned, “I just don’t like it.”
“Aunt Nat loves you too, dad,” you said as you bit the inside of your cheek, “she wouldn’t keep you off the ice just because. The hit you took from the Friesen boys was just the cherry on top of the shit sundae.”
“I know...”
“Well...at least we can watch the game from some great seats.”
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” he frowned, “...you want to sit here with Cory and Liam...”
“I-I actually asked if we could watch the match with you.”
Your dad raised your brow at you, and Dani joined the group, “hey...Maria said she’ll be up when she gets the next round of Puppers.”
“I’ll buy!” Liam offered.
“Suck up!” Cory giggled.
Your dad’s brows furrowed as you sat on one side of Liam while Dani sat on the other side. She giggled and kissed him on the cheek, and in an instant, it clicked in your dad’s head.
“Tessa, switch me seats.”
You couldn’t hold back your smirk, “why dad?”
“Just switch me seats.”
“Told you it was a bad idea,” you laughed, looking at your sister while you got up to move. Her eyes went wide, and you looked at Liam, “sorry kid.”
“Tessa, no!”
“You’re buying?” your dad asked, looking pointedly at Liam, “who you buying for, Liam?”
“Y-you...and Tessa if she wants one.”
“I’m good!” you said quickly, rejecting the offer.
“Oh, no...I’m not drinking alone.”
“Dad, I’m driving me and Dani home tonight...I’m not drinking!”
“You’re drinking with me then, Liam,” he argued. Liam went to say something, but your dad cut him off when one of the other beer girls stopped beside him, “three. One for each of us guys.”
As she passed down the beers, two guys who were repping the Soo Hunt sat down behind you, purposefully kicking your chairs.
“Fuck off!” Cory growled, shooting the men a glare.
“What the fuck are you doing?” your dad growled back to the guys.
As the action started, and your dad started to question Liam, while also paying attention to the game, Schnurr scored the first goal. The guys behind you got up and cheered for the team, and you felt the seats jerking with you.
“Hey I said fuck off!” Cory hissed.
“Settle down,” your dad urged, glaring at the men behind you, “haven’t you ever been to a fucking hockey game before?”
“Dad,” Dani frowned, looking at her dad. She didn’t want any drama to start, especially not with such a tense crowd, “please.”
“It’s okay, Dani...these guys are being dicks!” Liam growled as he tried to stop his beer from spilling because of their movements.
“Let’s just enjoy the game!” you suggested.
“They’re beating you mentally!” Cory frowned, looking at how deflated the team looked after just a goal.
“They’re fucking whooping us mentally, Cor!” your dad agreed.
“The Soo celly so big!”
“Fucking clown show!”
“Sucking the air out of your bench though!” Cory pointed out.
As the action continued and a second goal and a third was grabbed by the Soo, you fought every urge to cheer for your boyfriend.
He was quick to find you in the crowd as he turned, and he smiled at you.
You bit your lip and looked away from him.
Sanguinet threw a water bottle.
Michaels broke his stick and went to the bench to scream at his teammates, “WAKE THE FUCK UP!”
As the cheering from behind you jostled your seats again, your dad looked at his phone.
Your sisters' eyes went wide as he mumbled something to Cory and Liam that you didn’t hear.
“Dad...no...” Dani begged.
You looked at your dad, and he was smiling at your aunt Nat.
She nodded.
“Dad...what are you doing?” you asked.
“Girls...stay with us!” your dad said, before nodding to Cory and Liam.
The three of them tossed their beers backwards onto the Soo Hunt fans and your eyes widened as they stood.
Oh fuck.
Oh no.
The action on the ice stopped, when an obvious argument broke out between members of the Bluester club and the Soo Hunt.
And then punches started to be thrown.
“Hey...look at me...”
“Matt, I’m ok-”
“Are you alright?” he repeated once again, as he searched you for any invisible injuries that he may have missed the second and third once over.
“I’m fine...”
“And the baby is okay?”
“Matt, we’re fine.”
“Are you sure?” he asked nervously. His hand went nervously to your stomach, “I read in one of the books th-”
“Matt,” you said firmly, catching his face in your hands, “look at me honey...me and the baby are fine...”
“Fucking asshole,” he grumbled, eyes still holding all of the anxieties he had yet to speak out loud, “how could he be so fucking careless? Even if you weren’t pregnant...you and your sister were with him in the stands. You-”
“I’m fine!”
“Fer what?”
“Starting a brawl in the stands!”
“It was clearly the booster club!” you tried to argue.
“Everybody knows that the Bluester club is ready to rip.”
You looked up at your boyfriend, and he stood tense, clinging to the railing.
“You’re really going to stand there and argue in your dad’s favor?”
“Matt-”
“He put you at risk,” he growled, “he put your sister at risk...he put our baby at risk.”
“I am fine-”
“If you can’t see it-if you can’t see what’s wrong with that-”
“Then what, Matt?”
He sighed, the anxiety clearly causing him to crash emotionally, “I don’t like the idea of you being away from me to begin with...but knowing that he has that kind of disregard for you...it makes me nervous living down in Michigan, Tessa.”
“Matt...”
“Don’t help the bulldogs, baby...”
“My aunt and my dad asked me...”
“I’m sorry, but you can’t suspend him for the final game for something that happened in the stands.”
“Yes we can,” Marie Mai argued, “that’s why we’re here. Ready to vote?”
“All right, hang on,” Gord jumped in, “let’s do this diplomatically.”
“Don’t be such a fucking nerd, Gord!”
“Dad!” you said, elbowing your father in the ribs.
“Fuck!”
From the railing both Sly and your boyfriend chuckled.
“We’ve got a rep resent from all participating teams. I think the bulldogs should be able to plead their case and we’ll all get a chance to weigh in,” Gord suggested, “and from there, we’ll make a decision...cool?”
“Cool.” Matt agreed.
“Cool!” you and your aunt Nat chorused.
“Fellas?”
“Pardon?” one of the Friesen’s asked.
“Moving right along!” your dad said loudly.
“Alright, Shoresy!”
“She’s repping the Bulldogs.”
“I’m repping the Bulldogs for this!” you announced.
Marie Mai raised a brow at you, “and who are you?”
“I’m the proxxy for my mom, who splits the organization with my Aunt Nat.”
“Then rep the bulldogs.” Marie Mai said unenthusiastically, “we’ve got a final to play.”
“Here are the facts,” you said pointedly, “the bulldogs and the hunt were playing a hockey game last night. The bulldogs won. The hunt are now eliminated from the tournament, and the bulldogs advance to the final against Les Rapides de Rawdon.”
She laughed at you, “What? That’s it?”
“That’s all that matters here, Marie Mai.”
“Delaney...we’ll go to you!”
You felt your chest tighten as he looked at you.
“I want him drug tested!” your dad argued.
“Shut the hell up, dad!” you hissed.
“Fuck you, Shoresy!” he growled, glaring at your dad.
You knew that he was still livid about what had happened last night.
No matter how much you had insisted that you were fine, he wouldn’t leave it alone, until you said he could stay over at your place.
The whole night he babied you, and wouldn’t let you lift a finger, making comments about how he needed to make sure you were alright, and how pissed he was at your dad.
“Look at him,” your dad said, shooting him a glance, “he’s fucking sniffing ‘yak.”
“WE were up three-zero, and Shoresy started a brawl in the stands that affected the game on the ice!” he argued.
“Physically impossible!” you pushed back.
You knew from the look in his eyes that was a lie.
He’d spent the rest of the game distracted, worrying about you. But he wasn’t going to out your relationship like that.
“They came back and won!”
“Sure that wasn’t an acid flashback, you fucking loser?”
“DAD!”
His nostrils flared as he continued, “it was a clear attempt to disrupt the game. Not to mention that you had no disregard for your own kids, and you let that shit happen around them. I-”
“Matt!”
“Don’t you dare fucking speak about my kids!” your dad spat at him, “you need to keep my kids out of your mouth, or I swear to god, Delaney. What they do is none of your business. Keep your head down and go back to ripping snooters of-”
“Oh yeah, fucking father of the year!”
“I swear to god, Delaney, mind your fucking business-”
“It is my fucking business when your letting any asshole fight near my pregnant girlfriend!”
Your eyes widened, “MATT!”
Everyone stood in silence for a second, and your dad’s brow furrowed, “what?”
Your throat went dry.
Marie Mai looked amused, but no one else said anything.
“What the fuck are you talking about you fucking coke head?”
Matt looked at you, his anxiety getting the best of him. He was nearly shaking as he clung to the railing, “I can’t fucking do it, Tess...I can’t keep it a secret, baby...this fucking prick needs to know just how much he was willing to disregard you for the fucking game.”
“Tessa?” your dad asked slowly as he turned to you, “what the fuck is Delaney talking about?”
“This seems like a matter for another time,” your aunt said quickly, glancing to Delaney, “and it seems like he’s got a bit of sour grapes bias here, people...so maybe his vote shouldn’t count.”
“Bullshit it shouldn’t!” he hissed, “regardless of what’s going on with me and Tess, I still rep the Soo Hunt.”
“Alright,” Gord said awkwardly as he navigated the terrain he was working with, “so you vote to suspend him for the final game?”
“Yes!” he growled, glaring at your dad.
Your dad refused to look at you or Matt as Gord called for Sly’s answer. Sly brought up how it was an internationally broadcasted tournament, and that he voted to suspend him as well.
Your stomach turned, and you weren't sure if it was because of how everyone was voting to suspend your dad, or the look that your boyfriend was giving you from the guilt of having outed your relationship and pregnancy to your father.
