Prompt: Sarada activates her Mangekyo on a mission.

They were the superstar team, the most talented chunin of the new generation. Sarada always prided herself on her strength and analytical skills, but even she had to admit that at some point even she let that get into her head. It wasn't just Boruto, they all became cocky and convinced in their own invincibility. They craved a real challenge, a way to test their abilities to the fullest. And then they fell victim to their own overconfidence.
When Team Konohamaru stumbled on the missing-nins that had stolen the Seven Swords of the Hidden Mist, they didn't even consider a retreat. After all, if they had managed to deal with the previous set of thieves even before they became genin, at chunin level this was going to be a walk in the park.
That was the mistake number one.
Of course, Boruto recklessly charged at the enemy leader, the wielder of Samehada, leaving Sarada and Mitsuki to deal with the other three ninja. Sarada had her hands full fending off their surprisingly well-coordinated attacks, but thanks to her Sharingan she was able to also keep track of Boruto's fight.
The three-tomoe Sharingan had a predictive ability, so Sarada saw the exact moment when Boruto grievously miscalculated. She knew what would happen next. She gave a shout in warning, but it was too late. She'd have pushed Boruto out of the way and taken the blow on herself, but her opponent wouldn't let her through. All she could do was watch in horror as her teammate, her rival, her dear friend, was cut down by the Samehada. The sword literally ripped into his body like an animal, shredding and sawing at the flesh.
Boruto's last scream turned into gurgle turned into silence. Then his lifeless body thudded on the ground.
Just when Sarada really needed it, her prized Uchiha doujutsu proved completely useless. She couldn't even save a friend from a horrifying death. All the Sharingan was good for was to capture that moment in every little detail, for her to remember and torture herself with for all eternity.
“What a weakling. Samehada is still thirsty for more blood,” Boruto's killer sneered and spat on the corpse.
Sarada, already overcome by shock and grief, snapped.
She didn't know it, but her tear-filled Sharingan eyes changed form into something new and unique as the primal hatred welled up inside her. All she knew was that she needed to destroy the one who had killed Boruto. She didn't care what she had to do to accomplish this. No one would stand in her way and survive.
The rest of that fight was a red-splattered blur of agony and revenge.
By the end of it, all four missing-nins were headless corpses on the ground. This wasn't even a fight, it was a slaughter. Sarada walked swaying to her fallen teammate. Her knees hit the ground abruptly. She cradled Boruto in her arms and wept, salty tears mingling with blood from her overstrained eyes and dripping on his pale, dead face.
Sasuke and Naruto, alerted by Mitsuki's snake summon, found Sarada in that exact same position a few hours later, unconsciously slumped over Boruto's prone body in a protective manner while Mitsuki watched over both of them in a morose silence.
It was the end of the new generation's Team Seven and Boruto Uzumaki's life.

"Happy birthday to the best little student of Konoha!" Obito sing-songs with a silly voice, handing Sarada a little box with a red bow on top. Inside the box is a keychain shaped like a cat, except it's not just a keychain. If she clicks on the cat's nose, a blade shoots out of it's head; it's a pocket knife!
"I hope you like my little gift, it's not as big as last year's giant shuriken but it's just as nice."
Just like every year, Obito never failed to remember her birthday and it always made her really happy. It wasn't something he had to do, but he did anyway. (Sakura wouldn't let him forget Sarada's birthday though.) "You know you don't have to get me anything, Uncle Obito! I'm just happy you remember my birthday!" She smiled brightly, taking the box from his hands.
Upon opening it, she let out a little, excited gasp, "It's so cute! It looks just like Mochi... Well, not as round as him but still!" Sarada picked up the key chain, and pressed it's nose, noticing it was a button, she almost jumped when a knife shot out. Her eyes again sparkled with excitement, "It's cute AND a knife! I love it! I have to put it on my keys! Can you hold the box a moment?" After pushing the knife back in, she reached into her pocket to pull out her keys. Just the house key, and keys to her grandparent's house, and storage area. There was already a key chain on it, an old looking UFO one that glowed in the dark. Eagerly, she pulled on the cat key chain with it and grinned,
"I'm going to jab Boruto in the side with it when he makes me mad.~" Oh, there was the Sakura in her,
"I think it's great, Uncle Obito! I love all your gifts! I don't think I would have room for more giant weapons if you got me more of those." She lunged forward and wrapped her arms around him in a big bear hug. Not too tight. She had her mother's strength and could easily, accidentally hurt someone,
"Thank you so much, Uncle Obito! I'm going to carry it with me everywhere!" She looked up at him still grinning.
