that villains have to be reformed for writing purposes, especially in tumblr rp.  that’s one thing i miss about dreamwidth, where villains could be villains and it was okay, but you understood the mun wasn’t actually like that, there’s a divide between character and writer and it’s not something you have to state explicitly.

villains shouldn’t always have to be reformed.  sometimes villains are just bad people.  and that’s fine!  villains serve a purpose in a narrative, especially here, in a superhero fandom.  sure, they may have a tragic backstory but they can still be bad people unconnected to that.  villains drive external conflict and that’s a good thing!  that’s story progression!  not every villain should have to be...nerfed?  or made to reform just because they’re villains.

what i’m saying is, the superhero rpc needs more just flat out bad people.  people who are unapologetically evil.  people like thanos.  people like aim’s scientist surpreme.  things like ultron.  people like the controller.  just bad people who do bad things and do them very well.  and the rpc needs to understand that if someone’s writing like...a bad guy, it doesn’t make the mun a bad guy.  stories need more conflict than just angst.  the superhero world is one of a constant power struggle between the good guys and the bad guys and that’s okay!  that’s why these stories work the way they do!

bring in more deliciously evil villains into the rpc 2k19.

       fallout: new vegas is a great game, but i don’t know that i’d hold it as high as a lot of fans do. it’s for sure amazing and i recommend it to anyone who likes rpgs, but it was definitely a bit of a chore to get through at times and some things were pretty poorly written. it was also JUST as buggy as fallout 3 if not more so, but that’s understandable given they’re running the same ... system? i forget the word. most of the writing is great and the dialogue options are stellar, but it’s a bit hard to digest the amount of information they give you and thus make informed, in character decisions. i missed a lot and had to do lots of wiki reading to fully understand some things (tvtropes is my buddy). still, that’s impressive for a game that was given so little development time and basically set up to fail.

{Actors are human beings. They’re not action figures. They’re not animals. They are not commodities that “belong” to any certain fanbase.

 It does not matter how much you admire them. You’re not entitled to their attention, their location at all times, or every personal detail of their lives. It is unacceptable to speculate on the sexuality and marital status of an actor if they don’t disclose it. An actor reacting badly to harassment or ridicule is not “bitchy” or “ungrateful”. Choosing to act is a job that places you in the spotlight yes. But it doesn’t revoke your right to safety and your privacy.

rp habits. 4.  how often do you need to translate your own or the other’s writing with a dictionary or google when writing and reading replies?

almost never. english is my first language and i consider my vocabulary to be pretty decent, so i don’t usually have trouble with any particular word in a reply, probably in part because i find my writing style incompatible and therefore don’t write with people who use purple prose / unnecessarily large synonyms for common words.  

8.  how does tiredness affect your writing?

i don’t write when i’m tired. my motivation is really finicky these days, which is why my blogs run on queue. it sucks sometimes because lack of motivation =/= lack of muse, i just can’t force myself to sit and write anything of quality when i’m not rested. 

12.  is there ever been a time when you’ve had to drop a roleplaying partner because you’ve found their writing style exhausting?
