Just wanted to let you know I have been re-reading Ring Out The Bells and I love it. Even if it remains unfinished it is beautiful and I want to thank you for sharing it.
This message warmed my heart when I first read it this morning, so thank you for sending it.
Ring Out The Bells is my baby, my brat, the fic that got me back into writing after years of writer's block. It's the fic that allowed me to give a little piece of me to a fandom and to a community of people that welcomed me when I was a little lost in my life. I didn't know what I was getting myself into, and after everything I'm so glad that I stayed, that I'm still here (even if I don't shout every one of my thoughts into the 'void' anymore).
It pains me that it's unfinished. I had the other 11 chapters planned (I still have the outlines on my phone). I wanted that version of Kate to grow into her own, to work on herself and get to a point where her love for Anthony didn't scare her anymore. I wanted Anthony learn that he can't control everyone and fix everything, and be at peace with it.
I'm not going to lie, season two is the main reason why Ring Out The Bells hasn't been finished. I started writing it right after season 1, before we knew the Sheffields would be the Sharmas, or that Katharine would be Kathani, so now my fic feels dated. I'm also not ready for the inevitable comments and call outs about it.
Ring Out The Bells started as a collection of scenes to add to the book and the existing canon; it became it's story with subplots that affect one another. It's farther from the book canon than I would've originally liked, and because of that, it's a couple of AUs away from the show's canon. I don't know what to do with it. I want to finish it. I wish I had finished it last year. Until I get blessed by supersonic inspiration or something though, let's at least enjoy the last two chapters of that fic.
Thank you, so much for the message, Anon. It really made my day. I may go back and reread it myself π
