Liss took a deep and steadying breath as she descended the stairs from the Warden’s quarters and returned to the bustling inn, resisting the urge to wrinkle her nose in disgust at the assaulting stench and noise. There seemed to be even more patrons than usual, voices slurred and merry as they sang to an unknown tune and swung their rapidly emptying tankards with reckless abandon.
Blanching at the sight, and the threat of being caught up in the spray of ale, Liss sought a quick exit and maneuvered around the crowds with a warning glare. Most had the sense to part for her, not wishing to anger the powerful and frightening woman, for which she was grateful.
Spotting a flash of tight leathers and blonde hair, Liss immediately diverted her course and followed the woman out of the inn. She had no doubt the rogue was aware of her presence, she wouldn’t have been such an accomplished member of the Dark Union if she wasn’t aware of her surroundings and the people within them after all.
Valtyra slipped out of one of the back entrances of the inn with Liss close behind, catching the door before it swung shut. Stepping out into the cool, fresh air of the early evening Liss allowed some of the tension to ease from her body and scanned the area for the rogue. She couldn’t have gone far, only seconds ahead of her.
“Whilst your ability to disappear is most impressive, I would prefer to skip the cat and mouse game.” Lisselá said, her tone managing to sound both uninterested and demanding in equal measure, loud enough to ensure Valtyra would hear but not so loud as to draw the attention of any lingering villagers or Wardens. “I believe we have much to discuss, Poisoner.”
