Like, they're both rude, they're both brash, they're both incredibly unpleasant in their own ways. They operate solely inside of their own little antisocial bubble- wherein they are the only two individuals who could reasonably coexist, but from the outside people generally still seem to at least initially like Johnny. He is frequently mistaken as being the more agreeable of the two, and it's almost entirely because he undoubtedly has some form of PR training that informs him on when to shut the fuck up, whereas Gyro just compulsively antagonizes anyone and everyone.

It makes it so much funnier when, over the course of the race, Johnny is revealed to be far more likely to kill with zero remorse (over even minor inconveniences) while Gyro's dual professions have made him hesitant to play fast and loose with his humanity. Johnny might exhibit a greater capacity for empathy, but it's Gyro who consistently demonstrates a deeper understanding for the inherent value of human life, and it's part of why they're such fun and necessary partnership.

He's talking to Gyro right now so it's not him so it's easier Hot Pants or Jonny but like the thought of seeing Jonny Joestar and thinking "This twink is insane enough to actually kill my ass" is so fucking funny to me.

Especially when he's put next to Hot Pants and Gyro.
