 According to an internal investigation, some 4,500 workers are injured every year in scaffolding falls. About 50 of those injuries result in death. One in ten work-related deaths is caused by a fall.

Scaffolding is a temporary means of support structure that allows workers to reach the required heights while building, maintaining or repairing existing structures.

 In addition, significant scaffolding failure occurs due to scaffolding overload. People exposed to scaffolding risks include scaffolding assemblers and dismantlers, personnel working on scaffolding, employees and the general public near scaffolding. Scaffolding assemblers and dismantlers are at particular risk, as they work on scaffolding before stairs, railings, platforms , and planks are fully installed.

Steps to ensure quality and safety during the use of scaffolding: -

 • Well-trained, certified and experienced workforce.

• Strict adherence to OSHA standards

• Use of certified and proven scaffolding materials.

• All materials used must be thoroughly inspected before and after use.

• Employers must ensure that all equipment in use is in good condition according to the regulations of "Personal Protective Equipment at Work"

• Ensure adequate permission to work

• Each activity must follow an appropriate occupational risk assessment

• Follow the "Scaffolding Management Procedure"

 We can safely say that it is mandatory that workers and employers comply with OSHA and other respective global regulations when working with scaffolding. For the safe use of scaffolding, all the above provisions must be strictly adhered to. All additional safety measures must also be instilled to strengthen the safe work environment.
