@riitarepulsa:
“Yes, Ranger! Run! Keep running!! It’ll get you nowhere, not with your blood still fresh in the air!” Her cackle rang high, and the former ranger was finding all of this too entertaining. When dealing with others of her past, from centuries ago, she recalled how some pleaded to be spared; how some never gave up, even in the face of imminent death. Rita preferred it when they had fight left to them, and not some sniveling coward, but these children?? They were something special. “Zordon really knows how to pick them, doesn’t he? Lunatics, hot-heads, and the ones with tons of companions… Yet, all I have seen from the lot of you is that you’re all a bunch of weak children! Strong, yes physically, because of Zordon’s power… But weak of mind, what with your hearts far too focused on nonsense. Family… parents…” | @daringobsidian |
Zack inhaled sharply at the sound of her booming voice and insidious cackle, both of which were like listening to the sound of nails on a chalkboard. Somehow, just her sound alone felt like enough to heighten his pain. Focus, he needed to focus. If he was bleeding- he needed to stop the blood.
But with what?
Just then, Rita rang again. Another one of her twisted, psycho tangents. Zack knew better than to listen. However, he soon found that he couldn’t stop taking it in word for word. It was as if, for a moment, all he knew was the sound of her voice.
“... Family... parents...”
Zack’s legs extended, further pushing him up. Hiding was getting him no where, quite literally. Inhale, exhale... With the adrenaline pumping through him, he could work through the pain. It’d be hell, but he didn’t have a choice, did he? Waiting for the others wasn’t a solid plan. At the very least, Zack could stall her.
Even if it killed him.
❝You think you’re the only one who fights because they’re angry, huh- Rita?!❞ The black ranger shouted, the face of his armor lifting. ❝You’re not the only one who feels like watching this God forsaken planet crash and burn!❞ His shoulders heaved, and he leaned into his own words. Beads of sweat clung to his forehead as a dull ache roared in his chest. ❝But why should you be the one to do it?! Who are you to just show up and say when it all ends!❞
They weren’t lies. And perhaps that’s what was killing Zack the most. He hated how people like him and his mother were forced to live. He hated greedy medical professionals and the entire system. He hated the so-called human beings with the audacity to not only ignore others in need but shove the heads of those they saw as lesser, underneath the water. He hated war, and he hated pain. He hated the fact that there were families out there going hungry in worse conditions than even he had experienced. He hated that people were suffering and nobody gave a damn.
He hated suffering.
But Zack be damned if he let some psycho alien bitch reign down and put all of their fighting to an end for the sake of amusement.
❝The five of us aren’t gonna give you those tools.❞

Tommy was frozen in place, his eyes following the shrouded figure as he slowly moved away from her. The woman’s voice was eerily soothing to him, even if her sudden appearance made him uneasy. Had she been following him?
Tommy’s jaw clenched as she talked about how “special” he was. Their paths crossed only because Tommy wasn’t supposed to be here. He was in a restricted area, investigating the strange looking thing that landed around there a few days ago. He lived around the area, it wasn’t too out of the way for him.
“I’m not scared.”
A lie. He was a little scared- she seemed strange enough, what if she was someone who could hurt him? Or, god forbid, kill him? Tommy shuffled slightly.

Today was supposed to be a normal day.
Another Sunday morning spent taking his mother’s medication to her. Another Sunday afternoon hopping between two part time jobs. Another Sunday evening he stayed out of the house too late.
But now Zack was wondering if he was even going to make it home.
This was more than just bad day.
There had been a lot of surprises, when it came to the whole Rangers thing. However, he was slowly learning that even the things Zordon told them wasn’t set in stone. Still, he had survived getting hit by a train. He thought he knew just what their super durability entailed. Sure, there was still pain. But he was always testing it- always pushing himself further. If anything seriously bad had happened to Zack, he thought it’d be his own doing.
He coughed, and his lungs burned. No amount of side gripping, and pressing his back up against the rock with bent knees made it any easier to stand. Zack squeezed his eyes shut, listening to his own shattered breaths.
Just a little longer. He only need to stay hidden just a little longer. Surely the others would come.

Where was she? How did she get here? Where were her friends?
These questions whispered in the back of Kimberly’s mind as she looked around the cave-like room that she’d suddenly found herself in. She had little memory of how she’d gotten there or what she’d been doing before suddenly finding herself in this place. She took a cautious step forward, one hand coming to rest on the cold stone wall before her. She was about to take another step when a sound from behind her had her whirling around, heart pounding in her throat.
“Who’s there?” The Pink Ranger demanded, trying to keep the fear that was pumping through her veins out of her voice.
