Southwest Detroit Mondays ❤️
Travel with Me in 1 Degree Weather
As always, I headed to Southwest Detroit on Monday morning for my Sacred and Stoic workshop with Bootz the Poet. Snow, wind chill, and 1-degree temps couldn't stop me from taking the trip, so I thought I'd share my journey.
I took the FAST bus from Midtown to Washington Street where I caught the 1 Vernor. Although it was a few minutes late, the bus was toasty warm and got me to my group on time.
I enjoyed a stroll around Clark Park while I waited for my bus after class, full of chocolate thanks to Bon Bon Bon.
Hope you're staying warm!
Rosa Parks Transit Center
After a year and a half in Detroit, today was the first time I walked inside the Rosa Parks Transit Center.
I took the 16 Dexter to catch the 1 Vernor to Southwest Detroit, but after a 10 minute wait, I started to look at my other options. I walked inside the station to warm up and check my Google Maps app and was pleased to see how nice and clean it was inside! There is even a nice public restroom, which I didn't expect (even in New York City and Boston, most of the train station restrooms are locked).
If you need a bus map, there is a shelf of brochures to help you navigate your route. Detroit transit may have a bad reputation, but it's certainly gotten me where I've needed to go.
