This scene hit completely different when I realised that Rickbot is likely trying to come up with an excuse to stay because he can't leave Rick alone in this dimension while it goes to shit.
Rickbot talks about 'commitment', but he looks away from Morty as if he's either lying or trying to think of a reason. He could relocate the whole family, just like in Solaricks, and it's apparently a lot easier with portal travel ("Fuck! we gotta find a new timeline now! You know how hard that shit is without portals?"), so commitment feels like a weak excuse. It does seem like part of Rickbot’s programming, whether intentionally or not, includes protecting and having a good relationship with the rest of the family in addition to Morty. Rickbot has access to the portal gun and could easily take them all with him. To me, it seems like the only thing stopping him from doing so is the fact that he would have to leave Rick behind in the sub-basement.
If Rick did program this in, I wonder if he suspected that Rickbot would realise that the best way to protect the family would be to take them away from him and this was a failsafe against that specifically.
It's also interesting that this is the specific thing that makes Morty snap and question if Rickbot is a robot. Morty knows Rick best and he knows how out of character this is for him.
