#rickard's

Hazy straw-gold colour with a creamy white head that dissipates quickly. Pleasant lemonade aroma that seems natural, but not homemade - more like a store-bought lemonade made with natural lemon flavour. Body is crisp and clean, suitable for a summer refresher. Flavour is that of a simple pale lager with mildly sweet malt, barely noticeable hops, and an agreeable lemon drop finish. Not bad, but if I was really craving a shandy, I'd probably make my own with a more flavourful lager and fresh lemonade.

Clear, rich golden colour with a finger or so of snow white head. Aroma of lightly toasted oak, vanilla caramel, a bit of sweet citrus, and a suggestion of spice. Medium bodied, clean and crisp on the palate when cool, a bit fuller and creamier as it warms. Flavour is pleasant, with the sweet vanilla and toasted oak promised by the aroma, some baked fig and cinnamon notes in the middle, and candied orange peel rounding out the finish. Another generally impressive seasonal from Rickard's - very interested to see what spring will bring...

Clear and bright golden colour with a small white head that leaves some slight lacing on the glass. Impressively punchy aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg, with more subtle notes of clove, and a supporting sweet malt base. Flavour is similarly spicy, with the clove playing a bigger role, coming up alongside the cinnamon and nutmeg to give a pleasant tongue-numbing sensation. There also seem to be notes of pumpkin and orange, although at least the former of those may be there due to the power of persuasion - i.e. the use of typical pumpkin pie spices bringing pumpkin flavour to mind. But even if some of what I'm tasting is imaginary, it's still quite a nice - and nicely flavoured - beer that is a promising start to what looks to be a series of seasonals from Rickard's.
