I really wanted to talk about animal behaviors and how they influence how I'm writing the raptors in my Jurassic World au but actually I gave myself a headache exposition dumping about animal training in another ask lol
It was really hard to find three things to talk about that wasn't Purly related but I have succeeded!
⭐In my Jurassic World Au the decision to make Cherry's dad the head of security was based around it being the closest thing to a cop and a way to involve him as a frequent antagonist for Dallas through his time in the park.
Dallas being an 18 YO convict brought in through a work program by Mrs. Curtis, who was part of the hiring team. It was a pet project she barely got permission for and technically counted as a diversity hire and only a few people managed to get in over the course of a few years.
Mr. Valance coming from an upper class family of cops and doesn't believe people can change so he's very against hiring convicts, who usually end up working under him for their first few months until he can get them fired or they get moved to another position.
I think the next part of the series I'm posting is a one-shot of Dallas's hiring and his first few days actually.
⭐Here's a thing that probably won't be mentioned in the story, Cherry is in a relationship with Bob, naturally, Bob's dad is a large shareholder of the park and played a huge part in getting Mr. Valance hired. Cherry definitely would've broken up with him at some point if this hadn't been the case but as it is she says she'll break up with him if he does anything actually bad.
⭐In my Thingverse, things that probably won't be explained in the story itself, the reason why there's so many of them is because a nearby bunker defrosted a whole ship several years prior, Dallas comes from the same group as Tim. But they're an isolationist species instead of a colonizing one like humans.
They reproduce using parthenogenesis when they have enough resources to do so, and are extremely vulnerable when they're young. They grow and get strong by absorbing genetic material. So Tim is protective of the twins because they're his, and Mark is latched so hard onto Bryon because Bryon would be willing to back him up as human in any instance. (Bryon is not a Thing)
Dallas didn't know he was a Thing until the Curtis parents died. The reason he knew Tim is because after learning what he was he'd volunteered to go check out the place Mason and Tex had come from. He'd been sent as security with Mrs. Mathews, who was the base doctor and had wanted to offer aid, and Mr. Randle, who was a pilot.
Tim had met them with aggression and killed both Mrs. Mathews and Mr. Randle, but he'd spared Dallas because he could tell he was a related Thing. He'd offered for Dallas to stay with him but got rejected and they parted on neutral terms.
The pods they were sent to other plants in have two or three Things in each that spawn from the same source. So Dallas and Tim are related, which is why they get along. While Tex, Mason, and Mark are related, but Mark got chased off by Mason when he nearly exposed them.
Bryon found Mark and Mrs. Douglas took him with them as they were transfered to another base and never thought to disclose that he was not her son.
