Islands of High Income from the US Census
Islands of high income are areas that are spatially bound by a high annual household earning levels per county. More commonly known as, "rich areas." Using American Community Survey 5-year estimates, the Census put out an interactive map displaying islands of high income.
A tool at the bottom allows map users to set the amount of median household income, and the map above displays which counties in the United States qualify as meeting that amount. As the amount of median household income increases, the map shows fewer qualifying counties, and thus emerge the islands.
