              a soft sigh that made puffs of warm air left the man’s lips as he STARED out, running a hand through his hair. being in hiding and running all the time was far from the most enjoyable or easy TASK that had been put before him, but he had lasted this long. filming in such a cold location with all the SNOW had been practically miserable without a decent place to stay and a busted heater.

         ❝    BATS ?    I  DON’T  THINK  i’ve  read  any  books  on  bats  yet.    ❞

          he holds onto his mother tighter and tighter the more she speaks because he can’t bear to think of losing her again.  she’s found them again, and he’s found her again, deep underneath the lumbermill in the dark tunnels.  he thought that she must have been going after one of count olaf’s henchmen, or maybe even count olaf himself.  but then he caught her, and he realizes the real truth of the sad situation:  she’s trying to leave them. 

he shakes his head against her blouse, refusing to disentangle himself from her arms.  he can feel the tears streaking down his grimy cheeks, burning the little cuts and scrapes that dot and mar his face and neck.  but, for just the smallest of moments, klaus doesn’t care about crying in front of his loved ones.  he doesn’t care about appearing strong, or keeping a level head, or ‘getting scared later.’  because he feels worse than he’s felt with any snatched-away home, with any almost-guardian who might have loved them.  this is the most unfair and unfortunate event of them all: to have a grasp on his once-dead mother, and to know she will make him let go. 

“you can’t leave.  you can’t!  please, mother, please, please, please...” 

                    ❝ i’ll be doing this, if you ever doubt, until the love runs out. ❞
