Country Stuff vol. 1
Hot summer day out by the little river, truck hood up, trees giving just enough shade. Perfect setup for some serious bro time.
TPDU-019 had those sausages cooking right on the engine block, foil and everything. Smell was ridiculous. Alton, walked over, grabbed one, and took a slow bite. Eyes closed for a second.
“Damn, 019… these are fucking elite,” he said, already holding another one out toward him. “You gotta try this. Come on, open up.”
He didn’t even try to hide the dirty little smirk when he pushed the sausage toward 019’s mouth. Classic Alton. 019 took it like a champ, of course.
While 019 stayed on grill duty, Alton and the rookie Peyton cracked cold ones from the Yeti and dropped into the camping chairs. Cards came out. Alton shuffled with that cocky grin.
“Let’s make it interesting, Rookie.
Loser goes in the river.
Clothes and all.”
Peyton didn’t even hesitate.
“Bet.”
A few hands later Peyton was staring at the table like it had personally wronged him. Alton leaned back, arms crossed, looking way too pleased.
“Time to pay up, Rookie.”
Peyton threw his hands up, still holding the cards.
“Ah come on, man. For real? Do I actually have to?”
Alton just pointed at the water.
“Debts of honor, Rookie. Wet clothes or no respect. Your call.”
Peyton groaned, and waded in. Cold hit him hard. He lasted about three seconds before he spun around and blasted Alton with a full-body splash.
Alton stood there soaked, mouth open for half a second, then a huge grin split his face. He flexed one arm hard, water still dripping off the bicep.
“Respect, Peyton, bro! I’d have done the exact same shit.”
019 was already there with a towel, trying to dab him dry, but Alton just laughed and waved him off. “Leave it. Feels fucking good out here.”
They climbed back out, dripping, still laughing. Alton threw an arm around both of them, Peyton cracked two fresh bottles, and they took long pulls.
Peyton looked over at Alton, still grinning, river water running down his chest.
“Next round?”
Alton raised his bottle.
“Hell yeah. Country stuff’s just getting started.”
