Despite the constant flow of Dianthus posts, I’ve been leveling Rhipsalys most often, and I’ve been contemplating the natural in-character traits that come from my initial idea of “she’s definitely a miniboss you fight before the main boss battle”. This is also absolute word vomit because I’m multitasking X)
Rhipsalys is nightmare court, and naturally, is desperately hungry for power. She’s not the oldest sylvari around, though she’s not a sapling either, so she has a bit of naivety to her. Rhip is fierce and mean, with a sort of cruel cheerfulness that comes from really enjoying what she does. Rhipsalys truly believes in the cause of the nightmare court and in those she works directly under, and there’s a very real conviction behind everything she does. However, I don’t think she could lead as a villain.
Rhip is the kind of person who feels most comfortable with a clearly-defined ideology guiding her. She tends to latch onto certain moral frameworks and ideological paradigms and embraces them with the whole of her being. Rhip is also the kind of person who, deep down, is hungry for the approval and adoration of authority figures she looks up to. She’d be faced with a harsh realization and some quick character growth if she somehow ended up on her own, but within the structure of the Nightmare Court and under the leadership of someone she wants to impress, she’s perfect obedient henchman material...if you don’t mind a clingy henchman.
