I'm pretty sure I've seen this before, but I'm not sure where.
I think the reason Lukas doesn't have a big reaction to being forgotten is because he doesn't realise he's allowed to have a big reaction.
He has spent potentially hundreds of years alive. He most likely had to bury his parents and any potential siblings or friends.
He has most likely experienced so much loss at this point that he's become used to it, used to just moving forward because he had no other choice if he didn't want his soul in the hands of a demon.
So the moment he realises that he doesn't have to live like that anymore because his soul is safe, he breaks down.
Not just because of his new friends but any that came before that he didn't allow himself to grieve.
It's overwhelming. It's freeing.
It's why he's so content to simply grow old because now he doesn't have to live with the burden of having to one day bury everyone around him.
