I love Pride and Prejudice retellings 🥰 Some are definitely better than others, but I highly recommend this one. I didn’t read a huge amount this month, which didn’t surprise me. My commitments have increased, so I’m just happy I managed to read this much. * * Best book: After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid ~ 5🌟 This was easily my favourite book of the month, I was so surprised to love this one! I was apprehensive about reading a book about a marriage breakdown, since that’s what I deal day in day out, but I just couldn’t put this down. Also, I had to stop myself from crying at work over lunch while finishing this, which was super embarrassing! 😂 * * Honourable mention: I listened to the audiobook of Emma, and Emma Thompson’s narration combined with the whole production was sublime - highly recommend! * * Worst book: The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory ~ 2.5🌟 I was really disappointed by this one, I didn’t enjoy it anywhere near as much as Guillory’s first book. I really don’t like hardbacks; I much prefer paperbacks when it comes to my books. I can’t read hardbacks with the dust jacket on, but hate having to remove the dust jacket - they rip too easily!! It seems I read more retellings than I thought! One retelling I loved last year was Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye, but I don’t own a copy. I borrowed it from the library and I definitely need to get my own copy. Clocking in at 7 books and 1 novella collection, the Throne of Glass series is definitely one of the longest I’ve ever read! At almost 1000 pages, I’m pretty sure Kingdom of Ash is also the longest book I’ve ever read. I have loved Jaclyn Moriarty’s books for 16 years, since I first received Feeling Sorry for Celia in 2003. I haven’t read all her books, but this middle grade duology is phenomenal. Moriarty’s books are filled with whimsy, and these are no exception.
