Imma just plant this here for anyone who wants to change up some of their Dark Forest trainees to cats that actually make sense-
Consider making Icecloud a DF trainee, Toadstep too.
Toadstep is a lot simpler so I'll explain him first. He clearly looks up to Lionblaze. What do you think he'll do with the information that Lionblaze trained in the Dark Forest? He might be swayed to join to be as strong as his hero. As a bonus imagine what that will do to Lionblaze, knowing a cat wanted to be like him so much that they trained in hell to do so. Lionblaze may be able to talk him into leaving, he might not be able to with Toadstep having already been told that he'd try to make him stop "because he doesn't want anyone else to be as good as him".
As for Icecloud consider the following: she's the only one of the DustFern she-kits to make it to apprenticehood let alone become a warrior. Larchkit and Hollykit died tragically young. She could be the spoiled little princess with parents and big brothers who will happily beat you up but that's not how she's growing up, she's growing up telling her family she's not made of dandelion fluff, that she's not Hollykit and Larchkit and complaining that Foxkit gets to do all the fun stuff like playing with the older kits while she has to stay in the nursery because they might hurt her. Maybe she joins as an apprentice after blowing up at Dustpelt for telling her sparing partner to be gentle with her where she's promised that no one will go easy on her here, maybe she joins after a patrol on the border with Spiderleg and Birchfall turns sour where they tell her to go get help when she wasn't the fastest one on patrol (maybe Lionblaze can witness this and wonder "Why aren't they sending Examplefoot? They're faster than her and we need Icecloud!") and it's revealed later that even with her full name they still see her as something fragile- someone in need of protection instead of an equal who's an amazing fighter. So of course The Place of No Stars whispers in her ear that she won't need her family going forward if she sides with them, that she'll finally be free of the coddling and be the strong and respected warrior she deserves to be.
Plus imagine the aftermath for Icecloud if you keep Ferncloud and Foxleap's death the same.
They'd probably make for better trainees than Birchfall and Thornclaw that feel more connected to the narrative.
Rewrite Rambles! So, I canât be bothered to find out who the other leaders were when SkyClan was driven out but I have a bunch of names saved from field guides, maybe one of them was picked by coincidence but this is not the point of this ramble. I want a lot of Dark Forest cats so an idea popped into my head while changing the plans for who gives Leafstar lives. I am going to steal the âthe leaders who drove out SkyClan give Leafstar some lives as a late apology for destroying SkyClanâ HOWEVER ThunderClanâs leader wonât be able to make an appearance for sheâs trapped in the Place of No Stars for ensuring her clan survived. StarClan was angry that by the end of this leaderâs lives, there was no SkyClan and they wanted someone to blame because they had no control over twolegs, and what do you know, they had someone to blame right in front of them. The leader was eventually corrupted by Dark Forest and remains eternally bitter for being punished for what was needed for ThunderClan to survive, as though it were only her fault there wasnât a SkyClan on their border anymore.
Headcanon - Not sure if this counts under headcanon but damnit I saw the wiki and really gotta disagree here with the sprite for Brookkit (seen below, ID: black kitten laying on its belly looking to the left, it has white toes, a tiny white spot on top of its muzzle, a tiny white spot just on its upper lip, a white belly and pale green eyes)
I REFUSE to believe that heâs not mostly white.Â

Rewrite rambles
If anyone reads the tags on my posts which I donât blame you if you donât, I mentioned a kittypet joining Tigerstarâs ShadowClan. Itâs going to be none other than Smudge and heâs not going to have a fun time leading up to it. His owners were elderly and thought theyâd have long enough to get a kitten and not have it face rehoming due to their deaths but of course they just didnât come home one day. He wasnât sure why at the time but heâd later come to accept they probably died. Howâs he get out then? The kids/grandkids couldnât take him in for various reasons. Wife was allergic, kids couldnât behave around animals, already have animals that wouldnât take well to a new cat, and the one he ended up with plainly did not like cats at all, so he was driven out and dumped on the side of the thunder path where a ShadowClan patrol found him scared and confused. Sure they had an outbreak but they couldnât just leave him, his claws were missing. He says his claws hurt his twolegsâ elderly and delicate skin and he kept hurting them with them, though the clan cats are slow to believe it was for the better, and ecstatic to hear he was immune to most diseases, making him perfect for assisting Runningstem(nose). Tigerstar wasnât wild about keeping Smudge in ShadowClan but he couldnât argue how useful heâd be around camp while in the middle of an outbreak. He begrudgingly agreed to let him stay though he wanted nothing more than to ensure Smudge was gone as soon as the plague was, whether it be finding him a new twoleg den or a badger den. With how popular Smudge became in ShadowClan for helping saved them, being perfect for apprentice duties or fixing dens, or even kitsitting, he put off Smudgeâs death until he completely took over, already planning him falling into the river from Sunningrocks. Thankfully Scourge put a dent in that plan by killing Tigerstar and Blackfoot liked Smudge, enough that upon becoming leader, he made Smudge Smudgepath, for following in the paw steps of a warrior and the thunderpath that he was found on. Iâm not sure how heâd feel about making the journey to the lake as a declawed cat, I want him to be able to make it but I know it might not be the most realistic thing for him to be able to do, yet I donât want him going âhey Iâm a warrior cat now oh I guess I canât stay because my feet are beyond damaged bye guys!â
Rewrite rambles! In light of the new codes, letâs discuss half clan relationships. Between two different clans, itâs still a huge no as is changing clans for love, even if Windflight exists as halfclan in my rewrite too. Between a clan cat and a non-clan cat? Really, they donât care about that. No one blinked an eye at Frostfur saying her litter was half loner. Whiskerstar(Onestar) will seem especially douchey for telling Smoke she canât join WindClan or at least take in their kits since itâs just normal for the clans to take in rogues and loners. That said, half kittypets and being raised kittypet is still a huge stigma in the clans that only lifted a bit due to Firestar proving there are kittypets out there that can survive without their twolegs.
Not sure if I should put rewrite stuff here but letâs give it a go. Note that while planning it that Iâm throwing some families and ages out the window, especially here. Iâm not rereading Yellowfangâs Secret to find out how old these cats are or whoâs related when I can make families myself. If this is accidentally incest in canon, my apologies but this ainât canon, this is me spitting on canon.
Reworking Yellowfangâs family so she can still be monstrously old come Into the Wild but still have her family in ShadowClan. Nutwhisker is still her brother and thinking about using some no name from some guidebook or something to replace Rowanberry since sheâs now Nutwhiskerâs daughter. Rowanberry is no longer Cinderfurâs mom but instead his mate (new family undecided and may stay undecided to keep âinterestingâ family trees out) and the mom of Clawface, Brightflower and Stumpytail. I do know that canonically Cinderfur is her kit but heâs described as old when we do see him in the main series, Iâm sticking to it and switching around him and his canon dad so the ages can make sense because thereâs no way Clawface is that old in any interpretation of the first series. I decided on a whim to make Brightflower still alive and thought that making her Rowanberryâs kit could nicely round out her first litter and so the impact of Mintkit and Marigoldkit can remain (she lives long enough afterwards to forgive StarClan for doing this to her kits, plus she has enough time to have another litter after those two and was so happy to see them all grow up).
