We hold these truths to be self evident (or the briefing)
One of the most interesting features of our modern society is the emergence of ever increasing numbers of radical groups in foreign lands, and in our own hometown. Which begs the question, Why? The answer is ultimately a simple one. The revolutionary air in our worlds and deep within our hearts stems from the inevitable decay of political frameworks conceptualized centuries ago. It is becoming increasingly apparent that these frameworks are inadequate in both addressing the grievances of the people, and in creating an atmosphere of legitimate hope of a better future and the prospect of a better life for generations to come. From here the seeds of revolution are sown. (For a more in depth understanding on the causes of revolution I would highly recommend Stephen Walt's Revolution and War). Yet in this atmosphere so toxic to any system, the powers of the world cling to their own self evident truths, and are slaves to their dogma for the sake of "framers intentions". And by some miracle, rather than weakening, they manage to cling ever more tightly.
This is all made possible by the political paradigm (which i'm sure you've seen before) nearly all of us inhabit. In such a perspective the right wing and left wing are represented as opposing forces separated by a sea of political "thought" (more on the use of quotations later) in between.
Note: This is only a familiar representation. In order to gain real understating It would be useful to cast aside such labels as "conservative" and "liberal" as conservatism has become synonymous with the political right and I'm certain you are aware of revolutionary right wing groups who by very definition of being revolutionary can hardly be considered conservative.
The problem with this paradigm is that it is divisive and thus ineffective at promoting change as regardless of how radical one becomes one will only be further separated by an impassable, immobile abyss of moderation.
