...Why was he alive?Â
Julius could remember his last moments clearly: his Ludger had come to the apartment, he gave him the silver Chromatus watch, and he hummed the tune his little brother had loved so much to give him the strength and resolve to put an end to the older brother who failed at everything he tried. But now, as he patted himself down, he could feel no gaping wound. And when he checked his pockets, neither of the Chromatus watches were inside. Everything was aligning with how he remembered, but... how was he alive?Â
With no leads or means to discover the reason why, Julius meandered home, back to the apartment (would someone else be living there now? He didnât know how much time had passed). Luckily his bank account hadnât been shut down despite being dead, as he could afford to pay for a ticket and take a train straight to Trigleph. Nobody seemed alarmed at his presence, something Julius found peculiar but not worth getting hung up over.Â
The walk home was (mostly) uneventful. He got a few odd looks, something heâd grown used to by having to hide in the shadows for far too long. The landlady almost caused a scene when she saw him, throwing a mountain of questions his way to which he only had the answers for about half of them. Once she calmed down, Julius asked about Ludger and her response...Â
â...Ludgerâs friends told me he died. They wouldnât tell me how or why though, and--âÂ
No. He couldnât be. Ludger couldnât have...!Â
â...I appreciate the honesty.â Julius cut her off, any words sheâd said after hearing of Ludgerâs fate went completely ignored. âIâll come back later tonight. The apartment still belongs to us, I hope?â Once the landlady nodded, Julius walked off as calmly as he could given the news. It was rather stupid for him to deny reality, but... count it as another one of his selfish older brother things.
